Newbie Seeking Guidance
Hi Joe. I am 5 days out from RNY with Dr. Garber & I just love him & Dr. Holover.
Over the past 5 years I've had occasion to have 4 surgeries (1 big, 4 small, not WLS) at, in order of appearance: North Shore, LIJ, Winthrope, LIJ.
the only one that I have remotely anthing good to say about is Winthrope.
That said, would I have heart surgery @ Mercy? No. However, Mercy is considered a Bariatric Center of Excellence. Some insurance co's will only cover WLS at one. The nurses make you walk every 2 hours, (very important post-op) and let me tell you, they were never one minute late!
some of the nurses were the most wonderful people I've ever met---one hugged & kissed my roomate & me goodbye. Some others were ogres, just like @ any hospital. they were VERY nice pre-op, and like someone else said, Anna coordinates everything and she is wonderful.
