OMG!!!!!!!!  I am very excited and some might think I am getting too excited this early.  I get my last bariatric clearance on November 7th and I get to have my one-on-one with my surgeon, Dr. Cussatti, on December 4th.  Now when I asked the receptionist how long the appt. would take she told me an hour and a half.  Did it take that long for everyone here when they had their one-on-one with their surgeon?  Has anyone used Dr. Cussatti?  What happens at this meeting?  I am just so excited because we get to pick my date this day and I asked how long it takes from the one-on-one date to get the surgery and she said usually 2-3 weeks depending on insurance and the OR schedule.  YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!  That means I do not have to take any time off of work because our company closes from December 22 until January 2.  That is almost 2 weeks so hopefully everything goes well and I can use that time!!!!  YAY again just because it finally seems like a reality now!!!!  This will be the best Christmas gift ever!!

Congratulations on getting your Consult date!  I think its great your so excited.  It will diffinately help when you see the Doctor... I didn't have your doctor so I can't answer your questions but I would say an hour and a half is a nice amount of time and you are really going to want a lot of time with him to ask questions and its good to know that a Surgeon is willing to take time to get to know you and to explain the surgery as well as the lifestyle change.  You will get all of your referrals to have your tests done and your pschy. eval etc. that day before you leave.    I strongly suggest you go right home and get them scheduled and done ASAP ( not that I have to tell you this you sound like you are ready and rareing to go lol )  its important cuz you might have a doc or two who are  slow at faxing over your results.  All went pretty well for me here in NY but the doc who checked for sleep apnea held things up a bit since I wasn't wanting to have the over night test done.. I didn't have any of the "signs or symptoms"  finally he agreed to giving me a passing grade so to speak but took almost 2 weeks to get it to my Doc!!!  Then I had to have my blood work done the week before surgery and found out that I had H-pylore which is a bacteria in my tummy that causes Ulcers.  I had to go on a 2 weeks regiment of heavy duty Anti-biotices ( which made my nails grow and look rather nice) and then a week later I was surgery bound!  Just sharing this so you know.. things can come up so its better to make sure you do it all quickly to get it within the time frame your talking about.  That is so cool that you can do it without taking time off and have time to recover!   Good luck with your process and keep us posted here.. we love hearing it! Thank you so much for your kind words...Oh wow, I guess I should have clarified.  I have done almost all of my clearances already.  I only have the pulmonologist left and the bariatric clearance person at the hospital.  My surgeon will nto do a one on one until everything is cleared and ready to go...that is why I am excited.  The only reason I have to wait until December is because I had to see my PCP for 6 months straight and get a monthly report from her.   Yes, they are a bit slow in faxing results over but what I did was that I had them all mail me thr results and clearances so that i could bring them, to the surgeons office myself.  I also scanned everything and put it on disc for the insurance company because I heard it takes a little bit longer so I did that for them.  That bacteria that you had in your tummy would have been found with an endoscopy...my gastro did that test and I am waiting for the results.  he said that 65% of patients have it and have to take the antibiotics.  I hope I don't but that doesn't sound too bad.   Well, hopefully next time I am excited it is because I have a date set!!!  Thanks all for the wonderful advice and all...it has really helped to have you all around.

LOL Lili seeeeeee I told you there was no need for me to say anything lol... I should have known you were all over things.   I'm glad you were able to get all that accomplished before this consult.  It works so different from insurance to insurance and Surgeon to Surgeon.    Makes even more sense now why you are so excited.  All the appts and evals is a bit tireing especially when you don't have a set date.  Warm thoughts go out to you and we will stay hopeful that you don't have the H-pylori and all will be set!    Rest assured the time will pass quickly!  Once you see your Surgeon you can start to prepare for the surgery and it will be here in no time flat!!! Take care, Sandra

Thank you....I am ecstatic.  A month ago I was feeling a bit down like all of the pre-testing and clearance getting would not end but now I feel so much better because it is almost all done.  I just feel liek the next 2 months are going to go so slow.  You know when you are anticipating something and time cannot go fast enough?  That is how I feel!!!

Dr Cussatti patient here!! 1st off congrats on almost being to the homefront Now as far as the 1:1 meeting with Dr. Cussatti, it doesn't take that long. At that meeting you will sign your surgical consents, you will go over ALL your paperwork to make sure EVERYTHING is there, and then any last minute questions about the procedure will be answered (keep a list of them as you think about them and bring it with you). As soon as Judy gets your approval, she'll call you and set up your surgery date. A word of advice, actually several...keep copies of EVERY letter you get from all the rounds you have made. Also call the hospital and make that appointment with Dr. Khanna ASAP! They're hard to come by and when you do go to that appointment, bring the copies of EVERYTHING you have with you, things tend to disappear within the land of "fax". Any other questions feel free to drop me a PM or Email!
