Hi Karen, I am so glad that you wrote back to me!  I have a friend that had the lapband and she isn't too pleased right now but she said the down time was faster.  Did you feel you HAD more down time.  Mine is Blue Choice also.  So, they didn't give you a big hassle?  I've heard so many of the problems (via this web site).  How long were you in the hospital?  You are doing sooooo good since August.  42 pounds, WOW. Thanks for the info, I really appreciate it Debbi

Debi, Blue choice approved me in less than a week.  I had called thme and they said not to worry because the office we are dealing with nows exactly what they are doing.  So I had no problems at all.  I had my surgery on a wednesday and came home friday at noon.  The people on the baratric unit at highland were great.  You will get to eat the next day water first not even an ounce.  Then the envening meal is a cup of SF cozy shack pudding.  It took me 2 hours to eat it.  I have been released on Wednesday for anything I can tolerate.  I have not vomited on anything or have not dumped (don't want to go there).  I have followed all the rules.  The hardest part for me is eating slowly, I have the chewing down.  I need to concentrate on the slowing down part.  I felt very weak the first 5 weeks and then got up one day and felt just like myself again.  I went back to work after 3 weeks.  Let me know if you have any other questions. Karen

You are definitely the woman who knows.  thanks so much for all of the info. How did they determine which surgery to use on you or was it your choice (can't remember if we addressed this or not).  Debbi

Debi,

I decided to go with the RNY, because of the slow lose with the lapband.  Just did not want to keep going back for fills.  Some people never find ther "sweet spot" for losing with the lapband.  Go to lapbandtalk.com and just read they seem to struggle with it and I just didn't want that.

Take care,

Karen
