New here and question for those who had the bypass
Hi my name is Janine, I had my bypass on Sept 6th and am just about 7 weeks out of surgery. So far things aren't going so well. I was allergic to all the pain medication and had to ride it out solo without pain meds (which sucked in credibly ). After a 6 week leave from work, I just returned to work this week at half day and am barely pulling through it. I'm weak, exhausted, tired and spaced out. Plus I have some pain, which at this point I can take Tylenol. My question is this. I can't keep any food down. I've been tolerating what my surgeon, nutritionist and Nurse Practictioner have given to me. I can eat half a hardboiled egg, or half a scrambled egg with some cheese. I can eat yougart and special K cereal. I have been doing so for about a week before work. Suddenly I get into work and I am not able to eat anything or keep anything down except som wheat crackers. At this point its like I am bullemic. I am always throwing up. NP says to go back to liquids for a week, such as soups, broths, some puddings and sugar free jello.
Has anyone experienced this same upset or set back with their diet and routine?

Has your doctor brought up the possibility of a stricture? I had my Lap RNY on 9/18/07 and had a stricture which was causing me to throw up almost everything I tried, including cream of wheat. I had to go get an endoscopy last week to stretch the stricture, since the doctor could only stretch it so far, I had to go back yesterday and get it stretched to 15mm. I am feeling much better and will be able to eat normal things tomorrow. I can't wait to actually chew on something!!
