1 week to go
I went for my final appointment before surgery today. I lost a total of 58lbs on the medifast so I hope that helps things go smoother. Dr. told me surgery would be about 4 hours, i didnt think it would actually be that long. He went over all the details which got my head realling. He said too that you have a drainage tube /what is that? I figured on being out about 3 weeks from work but the nurse said plan on 4 but Dr said well see how you feel after 3. I am on coumadin and am off it now till surgery, he mentioned going back on it gradually and me giving myself shots of this other stuff after i get home for awhile/ I dont think I could do that. Well I guess Im just rambling on but thanks for listening
Hey Donald... Since I'm a little over 4 days out (my surgery was Friday afternoon with Dr. Clarke) I can give you some pretty good insight... I'll send you a pm..

Donald,
Congrats on the Medifast success... it will surely make things easier for surgery!!! Don't worry about the drain... it's weird but it comes out before you leave the hospital!! I didn't know what to expect when they removed mine but I had Dr Clarke laughing so hard at my reaction... neither of us could stop laughing!!! I told him it felt like an alien trying to crawl it's way out!! It didn't hurt at all!!! Just bizarre!!!
I wouldn't worry about giving yourself shots either. Thye gave me shots of Heprin(?) in the hospital (did I mention I detest needles?) - the nurses told me that I'd have to do them at home too but that never happened... Dr Clarke said not necessary but then again I wasn't on the same meds you are. It'll work out!!! You are in good hands!!!
Keep up the great work!!!!
Donald,
Yeah...don't worry about the drain...that comes out before you come home. I had to have Heprin shots in the hospital but not at home...but, I wasn't on blood thinners before. I was off 3-1/2 weeks from work, but it wasn't enough. I had to work 1/2 days for about 10 days because I was so exhausted. Just make sure you relate your concerns to everybody when you check in...I'm sure they can clear everything up for you. I understand about having too much information at once. Good luck...keep us updated.
