surgery with a cold??
has anyone goen thru the gastric bypass with a cold? Cause I've got one and am supposed to have surgery on monday and the doc didn't seem to want to operate while I had one, but I know it's been done before and I feel fine, so I'm still hoping to get it monday. My question is for those that have had it with a cold, did you find that it made a difference in the surgery process afterwards, ie, fever, pneumonia, etc. or did it really not hinder anything. I've got an almost non-existant cough, and a stuffed-up head, and that's it, so I really don't feel its a problem.

I had open surgery on Dec 1 and caught an upper respiratory infection while in the hospital. The antibiotics weren't strong enough so it turned to pneumonia and the antibiotics caused a nice case of thrush. The worst part was coughing with the staples in and being a fresh post-op. Just stay on top of it and you should be fine. I am three weeks out and haven't missed a day of exercising. I am down 22 pounds and 14 1/2 inches from all over my body. This is the best thing I ever did for myself.
