Dr Graniero, in central NY? Any opinions welcome!

Have you thought about Upstate Bariatric Center in Syracuse? I had Dr. Simon, and he was awesome! Don't know a lot about Dr. Graneiro. A few people in our support group have had Dr. Graber in Utica. I love the docs at the bariatric center in Syracuse. Email me if you want more info. Debra

Just my opinion........I started out w/Dr. Grennaro. I only met him once after going to his office for 4 months. Was very uncomfortable. Constantly felt like everything was being rushed and nobody in the office had 5 minutes to sit and talk or answer questions. I felt that most of the office staff was rude and unwilling to help, was actually hung up on a couple of times. Office NEVER returned a phone call. In all fairness though, I did see Dr. Joyce (grennaro's partner) once and he was very nice, but I believe he does more of the cardiac work unfortunately. I switched to Dr. Graber, also in Utica, and what a difference I had my surgery on 3/8 and I couldnt be happier. Not to mention Dr. Graber does it LAP, less healing time and less pain. Go with who you feel comfortable with. Everyone is different. Good luck! Karen

Karen, I have a consult w/ Dr Graber on Tues. Couple of questions. How long were you out of work after your Lap Rou en Y? Also, can I ask what kind of ins you had and how long it took from from 1st consult to surgery? I can't believe my appt is finally here. I took his first available when I made the appt in the beginning of Jan and this was it.

Sizzlene I am taking 2 weeks off from work, but I have sit-down, no lifting job. It all depends on what kind of work you do. I had GHI Insurance. At first they gave me the run around ( when I was w/a different surgeon) but it was approved in 2 days w/Dr. Graber. They dont usually submit to the insurance until you have all the mandatory testing completed so that can go to the insurance. My first appt. w/Dr. Graber was in January and my surgery was March 8th. It takes awhile to get in all the mandatory testing they require. Hope this helps. If you have anymore questions, dont hesitate to ask. Good luck! Karen

Hmmm...never heard of him/her. I am having surgery with the group at Upstate Bariatric Center on April 7th. Dr Kim is my surgeon, and he does it laporascopically. Having RNY. Good luck! Karen

I had Dr. Graniero do my surgery on 3/9. I called him and Dr. Graber on hte same day. I wouldn't even get in to see Dr. Graber until next week! I had no problems with Dr. Graniero's staff. They were all helpful enough, but I am not a very needy patient. They are no nonsense, and explain things fully. My surgery went fine and I have no problems whatsoever.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!I had him and I had broke my ankle and did not loose weight while i was laid up (3mnths) and when i called to tell them im ready again they set me up with surgery in 2wks from calling them 4 days prior was mypre- surgery apt and iwent into the office and dr G. seen I did not loose weight he was furious!! he asked me "do you know how to loose weight?" i said whatch what i eat he stopped me and said no! he said "STOP EATING! KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT!! needless to say i was shocked ! everything is rushed! he cares about the money!the more surgerys the more money! i tried to ask him questions he told me not to worry he's the dr. and he can tell & knows who can have this and he would tell me if i wasnt. so good luck to you!!!

I had an appt with Dr Graniero and didn't like him or his staff at all. I was uncomfortable from the start. They were supposed to call me back with another appt. but I never heard from them...even tho I called them twice to try to get it set up. I made an appt with Dr. Graber and he got things going . I had my Lap RNY done in Nov'05 feeling great and have lost 70 pounds so far. He and his staff are the best. Very helpful, and Dr. Graber even came to Binghamton to speak at our support group here.
