Ok here is my promblem.............
I had RNY on Jan 17 th and I live in northern NY which means we have winter and lots of snow.Well my problem I am facing is do I give away all my winter clothes or do I keep them for next year ( just in case). My hubby says give them away since I won't be that size again. I want to give them away but there is part of me that says keep them for some odd reason.I need some advice. Please tell me....... what do you think or what would do.Please and thanks. And am I the only going through this? I know in my head i won't be that size I gues it's a sercurity (sp) thing. I don't know. Thanks Tammy
Ok I did it !!!! I went through all my winter clothes and said good bye to size 26/28 NEVER AGAIN IT WILL SEE ME!!!!!It was alot easier than i thought it was going to be plus i made a deal with the hubby his treat I get all new next year. So not a bad deal after all lol. Thanks for the advice Lisa. And by the way it was nice chatting to you last night in the chat room. Thanks Tammy
Tammy -
Personally, I get rid of anything that's "2 sizes" bigger than I wear now... Remember that I'm a guy, so instead of the number sizes, that means I'm mostly dealing with just S/M/L/XL/XXL/XXXL, etc.
Grew up in Lowville, Went to Potsdam for college, went away for 2 years and lived/worked up there for 5 years after that (lived in Canton/Morley), so I can understand wanting to keep the warm clothes
.
Anyways, I would judge things by that relative scale - by the time something is 2 sizes too big, it's not even comfortable to wear "around the house" or when you "want something really baggy".. This applies to coats, etc. Flannels or jean shirts, etc can almost always be used as "overshirts" or for layering, for a little bit longer...
You may also want to check the local places (not sure WHAT's left in Massena any more as far as stores) as they put stuff on clearance and see if there's anything that you think might fit you for next winter, esp if it's REALLY cheap
if you want to be safe, get it just a little smaller than you are now, then by next fall, it should fall under the 1-2 sizes rule above (if it uses the letter sizes).. It MIGHT be way too big, but if it was really cheap to begin with, then you're not out much, and it'll hold you until you can get another jacket, etc.
Good luck!

Hi Tammy,
I had RNY in November and by December I had to buy a new coat. Well, already it's WAY too big so I won't buy another one until next season because I will probably be at least two sizes smaller than now (that would be a size 8-10 for next time). Who knows, maybe even smaller!!!
Bottom line, give the clothes to someone who can use them and take the tax deduction. Buy what you need for the short term as you will be losing constantly. I have a couple size 12's waiting form me for the interim.
Best wishes,

I think you can safely disgard the clothes..... I know for a while I was changing sizes every week! Once I was in a 16 for 2 days, I didnt even get to wear the new pants and I was in a 14!
IF you are not sure (I dont recommend u can pack away), but many feel this is sabotaging self that you will return to those clothes! I wish u well on the new wardrobe u will 99.9% need!
HUGS!

Jamie

Tammy,
I say give them away....You will NOT be the same size next year and if ya have no clothes you can be sure if it.
Well I look forward to getting ride of my clothes that are to big for me but do see my closet shrinking....
I find it funny that when I look at a shirt that fits now I say NO WAY that does not fit me, it looks like kids clothing to me.....
Well I wish you all the best!
