Hi Gang, Yes, its me again....However, I can not get enough of these cool Emotions (that one is my favorite). Well, I am beginning to prepare for my surgery April 25th. Just cooked a pot of chicken soup and blended it down to the right consistency....Mushy... I bagged it into 3 cup freezer bags. I've ordered samples of the protein drink from vitalady and GNC. I am still abit confused on the vitamins and minerals but I am working on it Also I told work that I would be off that week and I also let my patients know that I will have another psychotherapist available for them while I am away.... My support group is this Tuedays at 7...I will be there at Mercy Hospital...cant wait to meet some of you guys. My presurgery is scheduled for April 13th.... Any other suggestions from the experts... By the way did I mention you guys are the best..... Hugs Susan

Hi Susan, I have to admit, I am not very compliant with my surgeon-lol. The nutritionist wanted me to take 2 multi-vitamins, but I don't see the need to, because I have no malabsorption issues. Lap Band is fairly new to my surgeon's practice andI think they tend to give RNY oriented instructions to lap banders. I'd check with your surgeon on what he want he or she wants you on. Or you can be a rebel like me I don't recommend that, but I feel great and I do take an extra B complex vitamin which has many nutrients that are in a multi-vitamin so I don't see why my surgeon would have an issue with my rebellion. Plus I take extra iron as instructed by my PCP for low iron I had before surgery. They want me on 3 tums a day, but I am taking Calcium Citrate chews because I read that's better for you. But again we have no malabsorption issues, the type of calcium may not a big deal for us. So Tums would probably be ok. I also tried Viactiv, same type of calcium as Tums. But newly post op, Tums are best as Viactivs are chewy and your pouch will probably not be ready for it. Kristine

That is so great!! I never thought of making my own soups and broths and freezing ahead for post-op!! I will have to do that as I know they will taste tons better than that canned crap from the store. I will have to look at my post-op diet and see what I can come up with. Also, I have to be on a total clear liquid diet for 3 days prior to surgery (as I am sure most people do) and it would be nice to have my own homemade broth to drink in that time. Then I could save the chicken that I cook for the broth and turn it into frozen dinners for my family to eat while I don't feel like cooking!!! woo hoo!!
