The Endocrinologist and I!!!
OK SO HERE I AM MY 7 WEEK OF MEDIFAST. I HAVE LOST A LARGE AMOUNT CONSIDERING I HAVENT EVER LOST MORE THAT 6 POUNDS A MONTH IN ALL OF MY PAST ENDEVORS TO LOOSE WEIGHT. I AM DOING ALL OF MY PRE-OP DOCTORS VISITS TO GET THE CLEARENCE SO THE DOC'S OFFICE WILL SUBMITT AN REQUEST TO THE INSURANCE COMPANY. WELL YESTERDAY I WENT TO SEE DR. MIKA OUT OF ELLIS HOSPITAL. HE WAS WONDERFUL AND PROFESSIONAL AND SHOWED GREAT INTEREST IN MY HEALTH.
HE WASNT JUDGEMENTAL AND GAVE ME EVEN MORE HOPE!!! SO ID RECCOMEND HIM IN A MINUTE. I WAS KINDA NERVOUS BECAUSE WHEN I LIVED IN MIAMI I GOT HURT DURING A HURRICANE AND HAD T BE HOSPITALIZED AND THE ORTHOPEDIC CAME IN AND AFETR A FEW MINUTES TOLD ME IN EXACTLY THESE WORDSTHAT I "DISGUSTED HIM AND WAS FAT BECAUSE I WAS LAZY" OMG I WAS HUMILIATED AND MORTIFIED. SO TO SAY IM UNEASY WITH DOCTORS IS AN UNDERSTATMENT!!!! WELL ANYWAY DR. MIKA IS WONDERFUL... HAVE A GREAT DAY AND REMEMBER TO LIVE OUTLOUD.
LIVIN OUTLOUD,
BECCA LOVE

Becca, that is disgusting that you had to go through that!
For a DOCTOR to say that! He should lose his license or be fined (a lot of money that should go to YOU) - or something! Do you know that you can report that kind of thing?
Of course, you're not living in Florida anymore, so maybe the situation is moot, but remember for the future that you have rights. And verbal abuse from a doctor
defies the Hippocratic oath.
I am glad that you have found a doctor who treats you as you deserve.
Keep on keeping on!
Lisa

Hey Becca,
Congrats on the weight loss so far! I know for a fact I could never do something like that pre-op so I am inspired by you!
I can show you my list of rude/inappropriate comments said to me by doctors. It first used to bother me b/c you think doctors are suppose to be the most compassionate people out there but I have learned this isnt always the case. Doctors are just 'normal' people w/a fancy education and experience that is all. Some people are truly nice and caring and some are just plain old a-holes and this just goes for doctors as well.
There is a stigma that goes along with being MO and another stigma that goes along with being a post-op gastric bypass patient. It is like you trade one stigma for another one. Both of these stigmas are present in the medical community just as they are in the 'real' world.
I am very glad to hear you found a doctor who is compassionate and truly caring. I wish you nothing but the best!

Hi Becca,
I'm so happy to hear that you like your current endo. It's always nice to know that a professional can be human and really care about us. As for the jerk in Florida...you could still write to the Florida agency that oversees doctors and their ethics and complain. AFter all, it's only information on a piece of paper and it would make you feel really good to let them know what a rear end he was and hope that he doesn't treat any other patient that way.
Keep up the great work on your journey!!
