Yesterday a co-worker came to me and asked me not to have the surgery. She said that her sister works with someone that had WLS and that this woman has been in and out of the hospital with life threatening illnesses every since. That I have heard before and I can deal with. THEN she told me that this woman said that after WLS you can never have CPR again as a life saving method, nor can you ever be intibated or have a feeding tube for the rest of your life. This is the first I have heard of this and I am wondering if anyone knows whether or not this is true. The feeding tube issue doesn't bother me as much as the CPR issue. Then my co-worker went on to say that I am a mother with young children and I have to think about them possibly growing up without me if anything goes wrong. I didn't know what to say. She also said that there are other less dangerous ways of losing weight and that she knows I have tried them all but something out there would work for me if I would just stick with it. I told her that I need to lose 100-150 lbs to be my ideal weight and that a weight loss of that amount falls under the fine print "results not typical" you see on all of these commercials. Anyway, she wants me to think about this (like I haven't been). I promised her I would check into it...
