Hi everyone. I've been having computer problems so haven't be on-line in over a week. I have a couple of questions for a co-worker who just had surgery on 4/17. She has a couple of problems that I didn't have and so I'm looking to you for answers. She has a terrible metallic taste in her mouth and is wondering if anyone else had the problem and if so, what can she do to overcome it? Also, she gets very nauseous with different food smells. Not sure whether this is common or not. Thanks for any and all responses. Cindee 310/208/???

I had the same issues and they passed after a few (maybe 3?) months. Vi

Cindee: Metallic taste early postop IS common!, many things can cause: http://www.atlantadentist.com/metallic_taste_in_mouth.html Ulcer, iron deficiency, but the simple rapid wt loss/high protein diet (what most of us ar eon postop!) ketosis people undergo can also affect. For me it past in a month. Nausea is a COMMON postop issue, esp. early on that can affect over 50% people. Subsides usually w/ time! But nausea also can be from dehydration, which can make a vicious cucle of more dehydration, more nausea etc... Jamie
