I've done everything by the book. I lost 7 lb when I got home from the hospital; have not lost another lb. Eating pureed diet; mainly carbs. Anybody have a word for me? Thanks!

Donna, Donna, Donna.....you are still in the healing phase, so don't worry right now. You are not expected to lose during this stage so anything you do lose is a plus! Many of us lapbanders don 't lose any significant weight until after the first fill or even a few fills. The frustration is common. But just be patient...you will start dropping the lbs before you know it. You may want to hop on over to the lapband message board and post this....you'll get several responses. You will probably see similar posts by new post-ops. Good luck to you! Dee

Donna: HI! Although I can not speak PERSONALLY to a band postop wt loss, I hear this commonly in group. There is usually no 'honeymoon' period as with the RNY (no malabsorbtion) and some people do not have much restriction w/ just the band.... I ask are you exercising? I know that is a BIG piece of the lifestyle to get the wt off and keep it off? Any movement as tolerated! Here is the link to the local banser yahoo group, not very active but some great folks on there who are seasoned bandsters and will answer ? when asked! http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/UpstateNY-Bandsters Many recommend this book: http://tinyurl.com/73lxq Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Banding : Achieving Permanent Weight Loss with Minimally Invasive Surgery (Paperback) by Jessie H. Do not forget monthly picturs and measurements as well on this journey! Also protein? are you taking any? For me carbs mean hunger and more carbs...and wt loss stalling or regain...are you taking any shakes????? I know some sources say expect 1-2# wt los week...if so u r on target! Wishing you well! :-) PS if you want the bandsters 10 commandments from Bandster bash 2003 or how to tell when you are perfectly adjusted from the above book let me know I can send them, BUT if you join that yahoo group they are in the files (I uploaded them there!) Thanks for your encouragement, friends! I just thought it was something I was doing wrong. Thanks for all the info, Jamie! I read your info on protein drinks, and found it very helpful. You guys are the best!

Hi, Yes, don't worry about it right now, it's the healing phase. After you get your first fill, that is the time to be focusing on your weight loss. I was banded on January 24, and since then I am down 34 pounds and also lost 27 pounds pre-op. You can really make it work! We bandsters just have to have a little more patience =) Kristine
