Topic: RE: Looking for a reputable doctor for abdominal skin reduction.
Hi. While its not LI, it is NYC, and the best plastic surgeons are in manhattan. My advice, you have to go to a dtr who has experience with weight loss patients. A normal PS wouldn't do. We don't have bay watch bodies. I had a lower body lift with dr. David Abramson in Manhattan in june of 2004. I also had my arms done and a breast reduction and lift in 2006. Great guy! Loved his work.

Topic: CDPHP, Gastric Sleeve, NY capital district
I was about to schedule WLS at Ellis in Schenectady. It was a choice between Lap-Band and RNY. It was only through the OH forum that I learned about the Sleeve option(s). I've read a lot and feel it's the best option for me. I will be making calls tomorrow to get answers to the following questions but thought I'd ask forum members as well.
1. Does anyone know if CDPHP (our HMO) approves Sleeve surgery?
2. If approved and I can't get it done at Ellis, how about Albany Med or St. Peter's in Albany?
thanks,
Mike

Topic: Manhattan Support Groups
Hello all,
I am a part of the support group at Cornell/NY Hospital, but I wonder if there are any other support groups in Manhattan. Once a month is great, and I love to see my new friends there, but I think I'd enjoy going to another one every once in a while too.
All recommendations appreciated!
And if you are someone who lives in Manhattan who wants a chat/excercise buddy, let me know!

Lori Hi !
I am also a local and know Debbie. I am in the thinking about it stage and at this point insurance is holding me back more than anything. I am unemployed and don't have stable insurance. I also wanted to say hi because I am enrolled in the Liscenced Local Pastor Program with the Albany District of the UMC and I saw that you said your husband is a UMC pastor. It is so great to see someone else from the local UMC on here. I hope to connect with you soon.

Topic: Is there a support group in Long Island (Nassau County)
Hi there! I live in California but we have a house in Long Island and will be spending a month there it looks like. I will be about a month out when we arrive and I would love to be able to meet other people with the VSG or any other weightloss surgery for support. We will be staying in East Meadow and it looks like arriving on/around July 12 to Aug 12 or so.
Thanks
