I haven't been back to that meeting since.  I'm afraid to talk about what is really "eating" me because of the same kind of response you got there.  It's all roses and no negative, everyone is glowing like they did the first time they had sex!!  It's too funny to look at all these people like they have their addiction licked, when the in reality the journey is just beginning.  I agree that depression and bipolar and still dealing with the real life are real issues post op but nobody wants to take a deeper look.  It's best to keep everything rosey and positive because that is what sells surgery ....and these meetings are like a marketing tool for Dr. Ahmad.  I empathize with your frustration.

Topic: RE: Dr. Collin Brathwaite anyone?
Honestly, I didn't care for Dr. Brathwaite too much when he was at St. Catherines in Smithtown.  I don't know if he still works there.  He was the first of 4 surgeons I interviewed for gastric RNY surgery and was much much too aggressive!!  He wanted to totally remove the part of the stomach he was orphaning from my pouch....other doctors did not share his advice to me and I had my surgery elsewhere.  Research research research....do not settle for what doesn't sound comfortable to you.

Topic: Plastic Surgery Ins Question
I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with MVP High Deductible covering a TT? I have BC/BS federal employee plan but after my plastics consult found out that they will NOT "predetermine", therefore I would need to lay out the money first and then the surgeon would submit to the insurance..I would then have to keep my fingers crossed that they would deem medically necessary and reimburse. I have the option at this time to change insurance companies and was wondering how great - or not so great MVP-HD is. I do have rashes where the skin hangs and the plastic surgeon took pictures and was willing to write my insurance company. That is on hold now as I try to figure out which insurance would be a better. Any advise would be gratefully appreciated!!
Thanks!

Hey Brian,

I had gastric bypass on December 28, 2009  with Doctor Desimone & Doctor Cooper at community General Hospital in Syracuse. They are really great doctors and the rest of the staff in the office are just great.  They have support groups every 2nd wednesday of the month and all are welcome to attend.

Good Luck with relocating,

Margaret
