Well, folks, I found out I somehow had the wrong phone number for Dr. Kerlakian. Not sure how, since I got it from the phone book, but I connected with his office today, was treated very courteously and am now even scheduled for a seminar this coming Monday. I also found out that my insurance company will most likely not be a big hassle. I'm so excited! (and a little scared) For the first time I'm beginning to believe this is going to really happen for me. I know it's not going to be a bed of roses, but right now... unable to walk for more than a short distance because of asthma, arthritis in my back, pain in my hips, knees and feet... sleep apnea preventing me from getting a decent night sleep, so I'm always tired. This is just no way to live! I babysit my 3-1/2 year old granddaughter. I want to take her to the zoo... or to the park to play. I want to stop "existing" and LIVE! Sorry for the rant... guess I'm just feeling emotional, now that I am allowing myself to feel a little hope for the first time in many, many years. Sheila

Sheila, One Grandma to another - I hope that your dreams come true! I had my openRNY on 3/29 and am doing very well now after a couple of set backs. My granddaughters (5 & 3) were with me today and I am now able to keep up with them. Good luck to you! Donna

From one Sheila to another:beer There seem to be several of us here... Good luck and congratulations! I know how nerve wracking this can be. My initial meeting is with New Life Surgery (Dr.s Maguire, Hadley and Anderson) on the 23rd. I'm so excited, so I know how you feel. My insurance is likely to be a hassle, however, because it specifically excludes WLS. It does have a medical necessity exception somewhere in the appeal process, but I'm going to be realistic. The good thing is that the other major Ins Co at my work does specifically cover WLS to cure MO and we are self insured. So, I have something to fight with, though I know it will b e tough. I will keep you in my thoughts.. .and if you'd like another Sheila whose at the same place in her journey to talk to...just let me know :D Sheila
