I am back 4 days postop - I need some help
Well it's over with, and I have never been in so much pain before. Mostly when trying to lay down and get up, OMG it hurts.
Is it normal to have a lot of gas this many days after? I know they had to "fill me up to work" but it seems like there is more air coming out than what I can hold.
It is uncomfortable because I have to sit up to .... well relieve myself
Secondly there has to be a good tasting protein drink... I have tried the High Protein slim fast and the Isopure both are horrible tasting and I need to heal quickly and need the protein.
Lasty, everyone has a nice picture of yourselves in your posts, I have added my picture in the profile but it does not show up, What gives?

In those early days I lived on Carnation Instant breakfast sugar free and it was and is delicious. No nasty yucky aftertaste and a good deal of protein. After I graduated from the I could just not stomach the milkly whey based drinks. I did really good on the nectar drinks. They can be mixed with Crystal light etc. They are clear and flavorful without being ( Pardon the pun) wheyed down.
Keep in mind that your tastes will change a dozen times in the next few months, so what you love today you may hate next week. So never order too much at any one time.

congrads on your surgery and welcome to the loseing side.I use beneprotein unflavored I get from walgreens.com you can mix it with anything.Send your pic to [email protected] and tell them you want it on your posts and they will put it on for you

Hello Jason and welcome to the otherside. I use carb solutions from Walmart. I buy the vanilla and add any flavoring to it. I will put 1/4 banana in with a squirt of s/f chocoalet and it tastes pretty good. I add frozen blueberries and strawberries in mine. I always use frozen fruit and a few ice cubes. It makes it taste better to me. Just experiment with all kinds of flavors. I also bought a bunch of food flavorings when they were on sale and added orange for a cream cycle taste and peppermint for a mint treat. Anything for Flavor and SOMETHING DIFFERENT. Protein, gawd I struggled & struggled with that. At 3 months out I found Profect! [link on my profile] It is less than 3 oz's and 25 g's of protein and very easy to get down. [profect is pricey, but so worth it and they ship quickly]
I also use the Scitec brand, Protein Delights, which are also great tasting, I get mine at www.bodybuilding.com, so far they have the best prices on them. I like the Alpine Milk Chocolate, I mix that w/10's heated skim milk.. great cocoa protein boost in the morning. I also use the Vanilla Strawberry white chocolate, Vanilla Very Berry and Vanilla Pineapple, all these I only add water to and they mix really well also.

Hi Jason. It will be hard and then all of a sudden you will start feeling alot better everyday. As far as protien I used Susan Marias chocolate and strawnerry ready made shakes. There is no mess, just take it out of the fridge and it is very easy. Good luck and it does get better and there is a day coming when you will feel great, Cindy The are called smoothies
Jason, Walk as much as you can that will releive your gas and help your pain. Try and walk around the block or yard you need to walk. I use isopure no carb 40 Grams protein from GNC it is 20 ounces It is a fruit drink. Sometimes I add alittle water to it. I always get them on sale for $1.75 . also at your stage got the wheyprotein from gnc plain favor protein drink and put it in my sugar free hot chocolate. I found that really good. Some put it in their tomatoe juice. I am glad your on the losing side. How did you like Dr Bruce and the hospital staff. Was Lisa your nurse

You're in the "What the heck was I thinking stage", it will pass soon and you will begin to feel better with each passing day. I am 15 weeks out and I still have days that I feel a little weak. The best thing that you can do right now is walk ,walk, walk. Get that gas out!! As soon as the gas eases up you will feel much better.
I know you're probably worrying about how you're going to get the protein in, but don't worry you'll eventually be able to get it in, just try to get better. Get you some sf popsicles and some sf hot chocolate, and also some broth. The best protein drink that I have found is the Atkins Advantage- chocolate delight 18gms protein and 1gm sugar, at walmart for 4.96 a 4 pack. I swear by this stuff.
