Constipation

Does anyone know if taking laxitives will hurt our pouch or not? I have been taking fiber twice a day and I am still so misserable with gas and my stool is hard. I am afraid to strain cause I get hemmoriods easly. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated....

Hi Julia, I am 9 months out and still have constipation!! I have not been able to go right on my own since surgery. My surgeon started me on colace but that that didn't work. He also had me try milk of magnesia. Finally, they put me on another colace (over the counter) that had an additional ingredient - a mild stimulant. It works well for me. My surgeon said I could take it for 3-4 months without becoming addicted. After about 6 months of taking it I still wasn't going without it. I just started taking reglan .. a prescription that is supposed to get things moving. I do recommend taking something and not letting yourself get too constipated. I did at first and ended up with terrible, bleeding hemorroids! Good luck, Shellie
