Topic: RE: MEDICAID AND MEDICARE SURGEONS LIST!
How did you get in? I had an appointment for 3 pm today, Nov. 4th, 2010 for my first visit. Scheduled since first week of October.
The office called this morning and cancelled the appointment. The first open date they could give me is Dec. 16th or Jan. 6th.
I am so afraid that this will put off the approval process so long, that my employer is going to change insurance coverage in April 2011, and don't know if the new insurance will cover the procedure.
I am so depressed at this point. I have been working with my insurance since February of this year, to find a hospital and surgeon who are both covered by my insurance. Finally got approved to see Dr. Lalor and now this. I am beginning to think that God doesn't want me to have this surgery.
I am ready to give up.

Hi =) I am currently going through the process of getting approval from Molina (Medicaid). The first place to start is with your surgeon. They should have an insurance coordinator who will tell you everything you need to do based on what insurance you have, step by step--- and believe me, it's a lot! I can tell you it starts out with a 6mth documented diet supervised by a physician. Usually the standard for medicaid is poorly controlled co-morbidities. Other things that may qualify you is having to have knee or hip surgery but too heavy to have it done, diabetes, etc. You never know unless you try. I have been denied by Caresource before. I have gotten "sicker" and have changed insurances since then so...had to try again. If it helps, I've heard that Molina is more likely to approve you than the other Medicaid insurances. Good Luck!

I do not believe that State of Ohio (Medicaid) covers Bariatric surgery. I deal with that issue for my job. There is a difference between a hospital and doctor being a Medicaid provider and the surgery being covered. Some hospitals/doctors may choose to provide the service any way but Medicaid won't reimburse them for their services
Topic: MENOPAUSE
Can anyone suggest a safe and normal route to conquering hot flashes and all the delightful things associated with Menopause? I have been on HRT from my doctor for over a year and although it really helps I am becoming nervous about all the side effects that's all over the news. I will be talking to my doctor about alternatives, but I thought I would throw it out there to see what's working for bypass patients especially with the absorption problems we can have. So I hope to hear back with some good tips.
Thanks
