I am in the Cleveland area and had RNY surgery done at MetroHealth.  I am looking for additional support groups.  I plan on checking the one out by Parmatown on Monday evenings and I attend Metro's monthly meeting.  Anyone know of anymore?

In the pre-op stage with OSU -- was extremely impressed by surgeon at seminar.  Get yourself a big binder, a 3 hole punch and keep your own records... keep copies of everything to CYA and you will be fine.  Follow up with the office probably as typical as it gets.  They are BUSY as can be.

I'm in month 2 of the 6 month class now.

Good luck!!!

He closed down his practice at UTMC. Last I heard he went back to Boston. He left his patients high and dry the beginning of the year.

Hey Sparky!.....We were banded on the same day @ the same place by the same Dr.!.......I think you were right before me. I had trouble with my IV also! My anesthesiologist made no qualms about not being happy with the IV's that morning! I loved my team they were all wonderful & funny....which always helps. I had a rough couple of days but I am healing well now and am going back to work today...desk job. I'm kind of afraid to actually "ea"t anything more than protien shakes and yogurt.....I can't stand the smell of most foods right now....not entirely a bad thing . My husband ha staken such good care of me also ...it is nice to have that huh? I hope you stick around and find support here....Good luck to you!
It was a fun day! I heard the questions they were asking all the other patience three times so I almost answered them before she asked me!
I have had an easy time after surgery. I took my last pain meds on Tuesday morning. I did have quite a bit of gas for about 4 days but it was not painful, just uncomfortable. Three of my strips have came off and all my incisions look good. I have lost about 8 pounds since last Monday. I have to admit I am not holding to pureed foods. I have been eating crab cakes, chicken salad ran through the Magic Bullet, not pureed but smoother than usual. I am careful to chew everything to oblivian and I am staying to 1/2 cup servings. Protein shakes made with 1/2 a banana and a teaspoon of peanut butter is my healthy cheat!!!
Hang in there!

Sparky, Good luck! I love my lapband. My recovery was super fast. Feel free to message me if you have band questions. I am no expert but after 2 years, I kind of know my way around living with a lapband. -- Tom
