When I was in the hospital after surgery a young man came in my room (he had his surgery the afternoon before) asking me if they had brought me breakfast because they had not brought him  anything. I asked if they had not brought in some apple juice. He said to me "Is that it, we don't get any food!!?" What did he think he was doing here!? I was on my second day and couldn't even think of food. Besides that he should have known we were on liquids for at least a week. How did he get to this stage and actually having the surgery without knowing this? Do we need to have a test after the meeting to make sure we understand!?

I actually think that a test of knowledge before surgery is an excellent idea!  Might be worth starting a new thread.
