hmmmm where did my post go??... weird

Heyy Darren

You are doing great so far.
You could add orange tangerine crystal lite to the vanilla- tastes like a creamcicle OR add 2tsp of cocoa and it will taste like the chocolate

That's what I did and it worked out great

Be careful with the cocoa, it has a significant amount of carbs and fat in it. An ounce of it adds 65 calories to the optifast!

I used the "Frys" cocoa which is 20 cals and 2 carbs per tablespoon, I used a teaspoon.

That's nothing.  Enjoy it if it helps you get through Opti. :)

Mine is 15 calories per tbsp which is only 4 grams so can't see anyone using 7 tbsp to make up an ounce.  The 15 calories per tbsp would be about the same as adding a packet of crystal light since it's not 0 calories either.

I guess a teaspoon or two is not so bad, but I've seen some people saying they were adding two tablespoons, which is just about an ounce and I didn't know if they realized they were adding significant calories to their optifast. If you did that with 4 vanilla shakes a day it would add up to over 250 calories. My cocoa powder doesn't list the nutritional information, I had to go online to find it.

Sorry to correct you Pat but if you look at my post above, 1 tablespoon is 4 grams.  There are 28 grams in an ounce so they'd have to use 7 tbsp to be at an ounce.  I've never seen anyone post they use anywhere close to that amount in a day.  My clinic as well as many other clinics have authorized cocoa powder to be used.

Hmmm, I think you may be right - maybe I was mixing my measurements, confusing my g and ml in converting amounts. I get 86g in a cup which would be 5.4 per tablespoon, so that is much closer to your estimate than mine. I must have misread it! I wondered why our info was so different. Thanks for sorting that out.

Hi - I'm one of those that had to do three weeks of opti- and I hated the stuff too.  I never managed to get in four as directed - make sure you drink enough fluids.  It does get easier. Try to keep busy doing stuff where you can't eat at the same time - distracts from the no chewing.

Just think - you are almost half way there!

Cheers!
