GI scope question

Got a call today that my GI scope has been booked at the civic hospital in Ottawa. Just a question to those who have had one, how long is the procedure, how long to wait after? Since I'm from out of town, just trying to plan child care etc. I'm assuming I'll feel fine later? Just covering all bases! Thank you!

You will need an hour and a half from start to finish. I also had my scope at the civic beginning of February. The actual procedure is maybe 5 minutes but they monitor you before and after. Assuming you take the sedative you can't drive for 24 hours. Good luck!

Can I ask you how long you had to wait to get your GI scope? Do you know when it was ordered? Just curious because I'm just starting the appointment phase of the process now. Thanks!

My journey began in may '12 for my referral, orientation aug '12, sleep study jan '13, nurse jan '13, beh and nut feb '13 and now my scope in April. I was sent for many tests through my doctor to get things ready before seeing the WLC. Hope this helps. I've been told that this is quick but am not complaining and have my family doctor to thank. I just had one sat week at HRRH. I only had to stay about a half hour after the scope. You do need a drive home. It's a piece of cake. Nice little sleep. The IV is the worst part. Ouch!
