Topic: Going to Hospital Friday AM

Going to OHSU Hospital for gall bladder surgery -- nearly 19 months after my DS.  Check-in time is 9 AM.  Dr. D will be performing the operation lap with a very small possibility of open.

Should be a far easier surgery than my DS.

Vicki

DS (lap) with Dr. Clifford Deveney. Cholecystectomy (lap) with Dr. Clifford Deveney 19 months post-op.

Has not weighed myself since 1/2010.  Letting my clothes gauge my progress instead.

With the sleeve they just make you a tiny stomach. They use the muscular part of the stomach that does not stretch much. Right after surgery, you can only eat about 2 oz. It does stretch a little bit, but not that much. Something solid like chicken, probably about 4 oz. Something mushy like yogurt 6-8 oz.

I honestly can't think of anything bad about this surgery. There is no malabosoption like the RNY . You have a full functioning stomach, just not a very big one. I love it!

Hi everyone,

For those of you that were at our last meeting, here is the web site for the makeover site..........http://www0.weightmirror.com/weightmirror/
I'll let you play with it and let you think for yourselves how you like it. Thank you Jeanne for forwarding it.

I know it has come on fast but next meeting is already here. Wednesday, Dec. 2, 6pm. Hope we all know where now, we are in the Building D, across from the ER parking. It is fine to park in that parking or the garage. Hope everyone had a nice holiday.

Remember try to bring your favorite holiday recipe to share at the meeting.

Looking at the RNY.  I dont think my insurance co covers the sleeve.  I havent really looked at the sleeve as an option.  What can you tell me about the procedure - good and bad?

It sounds like you do need to post on the complications board. I have never really heard of anyone else having these kinds of problems.

I wonder what  caused all these problems? Were you just not able to keep food down?

Which surgery are you wanting to have. I had the lap band and it caused me a lot of problems. I had a revision surgery to the Sleeve and I love it. There is no malabsorption like the RNY and weight loss is just as good.

I thought they were really bland and tasteless. I am now addicted to Greek Yogurt. Walmart only carries
Brown cow brand, but I think it's so much better than that Carb master stuff.
