Topic: RE: PEBB coverage for lap band???
I also have PEBB but it's BCBS. I believe that PEBB only covers RNY gastric bypass and nothing else. I also heard that if you are considering surgery that you better hurry because we will be changing to another insurance that will not cover it. That's just the rumor mill though. Good luck!
Topic: RE: Dr Halpin
I originally had my surgery scheduled with Dr. Halpin for July 30th. Well the day before surgery they called me and said that she was sick. I had just been on straight liquids for three days for no reason. So we rescheduled for a month later...I was so upset. I then get yet another call telling me that Dr. Halpin was leaving the practice and I had to switch doctors and reschedule yet AGAIN! UGH, I was in tears. I have prepared for this surgery for over a year. The day finally arrives and I had to wait for what seemed like an eternity. Needless to say I had my surgery performed by Dr. Patterson on August 24th and everything turned out great. I hope that Dr. Halpin is going somewhere that she will enjoy. It's to bad for her patients though.
Topic: Finally - surgery date!
Well, after all of the hassle with RiverBend, I changed hospitals and surgeons to Dr. Tersigni at Coos Bay and I have a date! October 6th!
Dr. T is great, and well worth the drive! I don't think RiverBend has a surgeon yet and who knows when (or if) I would have surgery if I stayed there.
So - I'm on my way and my journey continues. Wish me luck - I have 4 weeks left til I am on the loser's bench!

Linda,
I'm so sorry that you had to stop the meetings. I have been "meaning to come to a meeting" for several months now. I'm such a procrastinator. I feel awful about not coming now, but I see that I am obviously not the ony one that did not show up.
If they start back up again, I would definitely be interested in attending. I could definitely use some support as I have very little.
thanks,
Tish

Topic: RE: over 500 pounds
I have meet a couple of people that were that heavy when they did have the surgery. Did you go to one of the orientation meetings? They are pretty willing to answer any questions you may have regarding your size and WLS. They do usually want you to lose something before the surgery but you should have heard about that by now. They don't usually get approval until after they see an effort made to lose the weight. If you are worried or have questions call them, they have always been wonderful about answering anything I shot at them during the process as well. Good Luck!
