Or - if you'd like - find a PCP who is willing to learn.  Sometimes they're a bazillion times better to work with than a surgeon who has preconceived ideas about out of country surgery!

I know that Dr. Deveney at OHSU has helped those who have had WLS in Mexico and other Spanish-speaking countries. He is fluent in Spanish and s/b able to communicate with the Mexican surgeons very easily. Hope this helps!

I had the sleeve in Mexico and want a local doc to go to now for follow ups.  Can anyone recommend a Portland area doc who will accept surgeries done in Mexico?

Thank you.

Topic: RE: Surgery covered by BC/BS?
Hi,
I have Roseburg Forest Products, BC/BS,  and NO they do not cover surgery, sure wish that they did but they did not when I had my surgery Nov 07. 2006.  I had to self pay, and I am still paying.  i would do it again in a heart beat!
I have lost 118lbs and have gained and lost and gained some and lost.   I had my surgery though Dr. Tersingni in Coos Bay as well, he is just wonderful.  We have a support group in Roseburg at Parkway Medical supply next to McDonalds if you would like to joy us, wheather you have had your surgery or not.  Great group of people men and women,
If you need more info just let me know.

I don't have it through Roseburg Forest, but I do have BC/BS and got approved without any issues. Good luck!

That's too bad you received such bad care at OHSU.  I was a patient there for almost 4 months a couple of years ago and I received such wonderful care especially from the nurses.  I was kind of sad to leave in the end.  I've had to return several times since and always received great care from everyone there.  If I had the choice, it would be the only hospital I would ever go to again if I needed care....and believe me I know I will be needing care in the future.

Topic: RE: Employers with insurance to cover WLS?
I know you posted this several weeks ago, but just wanted to chime in. When you say you have dispatch experience it make me think of Comcast. They offer Kaiser (which doesn't easily cover WLS without jumping through many, many hoops) and Independence BC/BS which does cover WLS. All open positions are posted through the careers link on comcast.com so you can check to see if there's anything near you.

Hi everyone,
I was wondering if anyone has BC/BS insurance through  Roseburg Forest Products and has had surgery approved. Thanks!
