Hi!  For those of you who don't hang out on the Lap Band forum, my name is Lisa O. and I just recently started a support group for adjustible gastric band patients.  We've met about 3 times already and now that I've been officially trained as an OH Support Group Leader I'm opening it up to any band patient that would like to come. 

I want to include all band patients from Oregon as well because we already have a few people driving up from OR and there's a possibilty of ride sharing, etc.  Many of you also have family and friends living in WA so it's a great excuse to come visit them and get in a great support group meeting as well!

We are a small, but growing group and the meetings are very loosly structured.  We may or may not start with a discussion topic but mostly we like to have open sharing, (if you wan to), and allow plenty of time for questions and opportunities to share our experiences with living the banded life. 

This group is for anyone , pre or post op, interested in a positive experience and opportunity to learn, share and meet others who know what it's like to live with an AGB.

We meet on the last Saturday of each month at 9:00.  We are currently meeting in Tukwila, (near Southcenter Mall), just off of 1-5.  We chose a central location to meet because we have people coming from Salem Oregon,  Ellensburg Washington and everywhere in between, east, south, north and west!

I had RNY surgery from Dr. Folek at Oregon Bariatric Center this last Monday. I think she's a terrific surgeon and I felt 100% confident in her doing my surgery. I came home feeling very good. I am hoping for a quick recovery and have a hopeful outlook.

I would highly recommend her.

Had one year labs drawn on Monday and received the results yesterday. The results were awesome. RNY surgery is a great tool and has helped improve my health 100%. I would do it again in an flash. My triglycerides are 46.  My HDL's have doubled, my LDL's went down 40 and my VLDL's cut in half.  I have a potassium issue but that is a pre-existing condition of sorts and now have to take a supplement to stay in range.  I cannot believe it has been a year.
