OHSU has two WLS support groups.  One meets on the 2nd Wednesday of every month from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM. The other group meets on the 3rd Tuesday of every month from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM.  There is a Q&A session on the 4th Wednesday of every month from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.

Each group meets at the Paul Kirk Conference Center on the 3rd floor of the 16-story Center for Health and Healing, 3303 SW Bond Avenue (east of Macadam) in Portland.

Underground parking is provided at the entrance on Whitaker Street, across the street from the building itself.

All pre-op and post-op patients and other interested parties are welcome!

For further information, contact the Digestive Health Center at 503-494-4373 or e-mail at [email protected].

Hope this helps!

 Hey there,

I realize that the 24th has come and gone, but will there be another support group meeting in the future? I just moved to Portland from Washington state and am looking for a WLS support group (I had RNY in February of last year). Any ideas?

Thanks so much!

I have had several surgeries at OHSU and had both good and bad service.  I think that can happen at any hospital.  My RNY care was excellent.  If at any time you are at OHSU and getting poor service call or have someone call Patient Services.  As I mentioned I work for OHSU and so does my husband and we have used their services twice in situations where we did not feel we were getting the service we deserved.  They were very helpful.

I wouldn't worry about qualifying. My only co-morbidity is GERD. My BMI is 40 and I was just approved by PEBB Providence for RNY. We tried hard to get them to approve the sleeve, but they wouldn't. I am going through Sacred Heart in Eugene.

I had gastric bypass eleven years ago anfd I feel great! Dt. Tersigni at Bay Bariatrics has done wight loss surgery on nine of my family members. Bay Bariatrics is "A Center of Excellence" and the surgeon has thirteen years of experience.  He is awesome and the hopsital is fabulous.

Best of Luck with your choice!

I'm Carol and I had my RNY 6 years ago with Dr. Todd in Anchorage, Alaska. We moved here to Coos Bay this last summer. I haven't needed to see a surgeon here. I keep an eye on my labs and belong to a Yahoo group with Vitalady.

Glad to "see" everyone on here.

Hey all,
I just had Lap Band on the 16th at Bay Area in Coos Bay. Has anyone been there for surgery? Any problems or concerns? My surgery was great, and I feel fine  just five days out....
  Thanks
