Topic: RE: Thanks Dr. Phil for that NOT informative bit on PCOS
I did not get to see it, but I understand the frustration. There REALLY needs to be more awareness of PCOS. It's one of the leading causes of infertility and nobody knows what it is. I think Doctors know more about impotence then they do about PCOS, and that...ANGERS me!!
Topic: PCOS wow
I am down 105 lbs since having Duodenal Switch surgery in July of last year. One of the main reasons I had this surgery is for help in resolving the Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome from which I'd suffered for years. While I didn't have diabetes, I did have severe insulin resistance and had been on numerous insulin sensitizers (Byetta, Glucophage, Glumetza, Avandia etc.) without success over the years. I was completely anovulatory and hadn't had a period in over a year.
I also had systemic chemotherapy a few years ago for Hodgkin's Lymphoma. After the chemotherapy and in conjuntion with the PCOS, my reproductive endocrinologist pronounced me in ovarian failure and peri-menopause at age 26.
I just turned 28 and am happy to say I am ovulating monthly since only a few months post-DS.
I had the fantastic opportunity to educate my GYN today about the DS, its benefits for PCOS patients and my daily life post-DS. He was very supportive and congratuated me sincerely on my weight loss and fertility health.
So, to those who have suffered with PCOS pre and post op... I wanted to let you know THERE IS HOPE!

Topic: RE: First period after GB
I'm 8months post- op my cycle came after the first month and every month been having my cycle on a monthly basis. It is strange though that first 2 months it comes on the same date, then the third and forth month it came a week later but the same date and then 2 months again it came a week later for two months on the exact dates. Last two months it came on the 20th, today is the 25th so I wonder if will be coming anyday now and will the next two months come the same time. I will def. go see my GYN again when it will be time for me to become pregnant. I been trying for 12 years similiar situation to yours. I have all the symptoms of getting my period ovaries pumping ect.. Lot's of luck! Hope this wasnt confusing LOL
Topic: RE: Do we cycle like everyone else does immediately after surgery?
First 7months has been monthly, first 2 months same date then the following month week later but 2 months in a row, then the next 2 months week late but 2 months in a row. Now its the 25th of March 5 days late so I wonder if it will come soon and have it for the 2 months with the same date. I have all the symptoms "PMS"ing, but still waiting. Cross my fingers it will continue on every month. Hope I made sense.

That's exciting news. I had my surgery on the same day as you and am in pretty much the exact same situation. But I am still waiting on my cycle to begin. Good luck to you!
Topic: RE: Have pain like never before...
I think different things work for different people.
I used to use a prescribed does of Naproxen Sodium.
I guess fortunately and unfortunately I learned to live with the pain because at any given time on an ultrasound I have 6 or more cysts on each ovary.
Now I do have episodes every now and again where the cyst decides to become a golf ball, a tennis ball and even became a soft ball once. So in those situations they will give me the hard stuff. But bottom line I would go to a doctor that is VERY experienced in diagnosing and treating this disorder so they can help you in any way they can.
Good luck and I am sorry you are in pain and there are many many ladies who know how you feel.

Topic: RE: Question about Cycles!!!!
Hey there,
I was on clomid, metformin, provera from March to August last year with no luck of conception. But after August to January I was having my cyles on my own without ANY of that stuff. But now AF has not come back since Jan. I have taken a preg test and it's negative. I was really excited to be back to normal, ovulating at everything too but now my body/cycle is all F'd up again :*(

Topic: Question about Cycles!!!!
I had RNY July 2009. About 1 month after surgery I had a period on my own. This was the first time in a long time that I haven't had to take hormones to get my cycle. I had one every month until this month. Now I'm back to none at all, I think I'm on day 55. My husband and I have been wanting to have a baby for about 9 years now, with no luck. I have been told that once I lose my weight we should have no problem. I was excited to be having my cycles regular and got my hopes up that we were finally going to be able to have a baby. Now I'm dissappointed that they have stopped again. Has anyone experienced this and your cycles come back? Anyone have a simular situation?
