Topic: Thanks Dr. Phil for that NOT informative bit on PCOS
Anyone else catch Dr. Phil this afternoon? I never would have except I'm home recovering and it's all that's on. Ironically, he is talking with a young woman who's obsessed with getting pregnant but has PCOS and hasn't been able to. They gave a 30 second explanation of what PCOS is that didn't even explain anything. Sigh... It also didn't mention IR at all but said some people with PCOS may be type 2 diabetic. Really? Come on! Give some decent facts (IR and Diabetes are not the same thing - not that some people with PCOS aren't diabetic but it's IR that's really associated with it.)

Topic: RE: HELP! uncontrollable bowels after TAH
One what is a TAH?
Do you take calcium or psyllium husks?
Add them into your diet or increase them and that will seriously help.
I take 8 calcium a day and 6 psyillium husks. You can take alot of psyillium up to 20 capsules a day. Just make sure the calcium is citrate NOT carbonate.

Topic: xpost..I need some input on a few female issues,
I have posted on the main board and the pcos support group but I really haven't receive much response. A little background..my hubby just came home for two weeks leave. Intercourse became more and more painful so I went to the GYN. He told me that day he wanted to go ahead and admit me for an immediate hysterctomy due to severe uterine prolapse and rectocele. I had been daignosed 3 years ago with this but it was only minor at the time. He is now concerned that it will completely prolapse without some type of immediate intervention..the pessary(we are NOT going to go there.) I could not schedule the surgery that day because my hubby was leaving back to iraq at the end of the week and I had to arrange extended childcare (we have a 3 year old daughter and 2 year old twin boys) Now that all that part is taken care of my question is ..Due to a long history of Polysistic ovarian syndrome and other issues, do I encourage him to take out the ovaries too while he is doing the hysterectomy and rectocele repair. I'm no worried about the affects of taking them out (menopause mainly) i am more concerned about what happens if I leave them in. The risk of ovarian cancer ect. I am also wondering about the cervix too. I was wondering if anyone has had this experience or close enough to it to offer some advice. And yes, I am going to talk further about this with my GYN. I am researching this thoroughly online also and any input or experience would help guide me in researching what would be best for me. I appreciate anyone's advice. Feel free to message me if you don't feel comfortable posting on the board.
Topic: RE: Dr. thinks I might have....
I think you need to relook at your surgery choice if you do have PCOS.
PCOS makes it hard to lose weeight. Your bady is VERY efficent at storing calories it adjusts quite easily to have less food to work with. The restriction only of the VSG probably won't be enough, you might look into a surgery with serious malaborption like the DS.
Just a thought,

Topic: RE: Hi All Quick question
Hi Jules,
Thanks for answering my question. I know I have a while to go. I just wanted to see how long I need to wait. I wish you all the luck and hope your dreams come true!

Where can I find the Pregnancy after weight loss board? Is it here on OH. I looked but didn't see anything? Thanks again!

Topic: Anyone had Novasure?
I'm looking into having this procedure. Actually, I'm just waiting for my referral to a GYN that does it as I've done my research already. I'm more than ready to have it, and with TOM coming in days, I wish I'd had it already!
What I would love is firsthand accounts of your recovery and how you are doing now with it. How are your periods compared to before? Any issues?
I thank you so much in advance.
