Topic: RE: post op TAH not doing so well
I got I dont know what, a virus or bug.  It cooked for a couple of days and wham, hit me at work.  I had the same dizziness, going and it was really bad, went in the mens room once. Yeah, when you gota go, bashfulness goes out the window! Just get outa the way.
The thing is keep pushing the liquids and protien drinks!
My blood pressure dropped to 83/44, it was dehydration.  It can happen fast. I wound up in the ER and had to have IV fluids.  I am still weak from it.  Take it easy and push the protien drinks even if you cant stand them.  You have got to really fight the dehydration.
Hope you feel better soon.

Topic: post op TAH not doing so well
Well I have been not doing so well since yesterday. I woke up uncontrollable bowels and spent most of my time in the bathroom. Anything that I eat or drink goes right thru me and at times have no warning. Just comes out of nowhwere. I woke up at 1230 with barely any warning and ended in the bathroom 3 more times so I finally I had enough and took some immodian a-d I was finally able to go back to sleep until 6 and had to run to the bathroom again. So took another one and ran out of it so hubby had his nephew take him to the store to get more immodian a-d, sf jello, bannanas, sf popsicles. I had 2 episodes of dizineess I thought I was going to collaspe on the kitchen floor. Hubby made me sit down on a kitchen chair. I end up going to the bathroom again and took another immodian a-d ate a bananna and went back to sleep for awhile. I weigh myself this morning I am down to 174.2 lbs after I got home I was 194 from the water weight. This weigh loss is to rapid. It went from feb 18 from 192, feb 19 189.6, feb 20 185.2, feb 21 181.2 and today 174.2. I was 184 lbs before my surgery. So this is quite a jump in the last few days. well I just finish a sf jello and earlier a sf popsicle. Hoping this help rehydrate me again. And hope no more trips to the bathroom especially the uncontrollable ones. That is so embarrasing I just want to cry. I am waiting for the dr office to call back. To see what I should do until I see him on Thursday. Well hubby just came in my room and yell at me told me lay down in bed. He is upset that I am sitting up on my bed. Wants me laying down I can be on my laptop but need to be laying down. Always worrying about me. He  been getting up with the kids and getting them ready for school and making there school lunches.

Anyone with PCOS who has had VSG?  How did that work out for you?  How about anyone with Lapband or Realize?  I am afraid that I will still have a hard time with losing weight with the band procedures. What are your thoughts?

Topic: HELP! uncontrollable bowels after TAH
Today I didn't even feel the need to have a bowel. I was actually in bed sleeping. It was already to late when I felt weird and ran to the bathroom but left a trail from my bed, thru the living room, kitchen and until the bathroom. I was so embarrassed. The other day I had one epsoide but Idid make it to the bathroom but not in time to get on the toliet. But today was the worst no signs at all. I was up at 5 am going to the bathroom it wasn't runny at that time. Sorry for to much detail. But I am just freaking out over this. Even after I had a bowel of cereal had to go to the bathroom again but at least I made it there. Is this normal to have uncontrollable bowels after the TAH? I had the gastric bypass on July 28, 2009 and never experience this before. So i am assuming this is from my TAH. Not a way want to wake up on Sunday morning. I am so embarrassed by this.

I have a Mirena IUD. I had inital light to medium spotting for about 5 weeks, but then only a handful of light periods since I had it put in April '08.
I'm hoping after my surgery it doesn't throw me off, though I do expect more of a medium to heavy period within a couple days. (happened when I had my GB out, too)

I don't currently take metformin but when I took it for a year I was on 1500mg and lost 27lbs. I did not change anything else, eating or activity levels.

Once I got pregnant with my son, I stopped taking it at 12 weeks and haven't been on it since because of breastfeeding.

Topic: RE: weight gain post op after total abdominal hysterectomy :(
It started at about a week after the surgery. I'm sure it's starting to come off for u now. Its funny u mention the hair loss, I hadn't even noticed any hair loss really until the hysterectomy and now it seems to be falling out by the handfuls. I had been in a lot of pain up until a few days ago, so I really haven't done any other exercise besides walking. I had been going to the gym everyday after school up until the hysterectomy.  Today is the first day my hubby is allowing me to drive, and I am so excited to be able to get out of the house by myself. I have been very lazy and enjoying it until I started to feel better. Its wired how different this is from the rny, I was really expecting the same recovery time, but i was ready to go after a few days from the rny, this took alot more out of me. I tried going to the store at a week out of surgery, well it was awful and hubby had to take me home halfway though. I did start helping my hubby cook dinner and get the kids up and ready from school as soon as i was out of the hospital, but for me that was more out of concern for them, then my desire to do so. Things are now seeming to get back to order, the doc still has me out until the 16th of march, don't think I can make it that long so going to talk to him next Friday about going back to school the following week.
I think the main reason they don't want to you to drive is because of the pain meds, I'm thinking if you are feeling up to it, why not but if you don't feel like it don't pu**** .
Have you noticed any dizziness since surgery?  That is something i have noticed, there have been a few times i thought for sure i was going to pass out from it.

How long did it take to lose the gain weight. I lost a few pounds now. I was 192 yesterday and today I weigh 189.6 good thing I didnt' weigh the day I got home I was probably even higher. I wait to the next mornning to weigh. I don't have much of appetite yet. Also notice losing hair again I am taking biotin and zinc. I been taking it since my rny but they had me stop it until I got back home.

I don't like that I can't drive for 2 weeks that is to long. I can see a week. I haven't done any exercise not even my recumbent bike. I know after I had my rny I was doing this bike 3 times a day for 15 minutes and working it up. But I know I got to go slower due to this was open. So when were you able to start some type of exercise. Sitting around doing nothing is driving me crazy and I feel lazy.

I did get up and make dinner last night. Hubby is sick as well so want to give him a break but let him do the dishes. He is going to do the shopping today when his sister picks him up to go to the store. Also has to stop at the hardware store the darn toliet handle and guts broke last night. If I could drive I would of went and pick it up last night. What a pain not able to do things for myself Hubby don't drive so he has to depend on others. I don't like to depend on others either. I am use do all the errands around here.

I Just did the same thing with my hysterectomy also,  they day i  came home from the hospital i had gained almost 10lbs. but it has been 4 weeks since mine now and i have lost all that and then some. I really think its just from the swollen belly and stuff.
I feel your pain, the hysterectomy was alot more painful then i expected, i ended up seeing a pain management doctor and going home with morphine and dilaudid and working my way down to the percocets now I'm just taking Tylenol. If you are in a lot of pain even with the percocet i would call the doc and let him know, the pharmacies around here I have to say on them to get things fixed, there is no reason to live with pain if you don't have too. good luck with everything, i hope this helps some. If u wanna chat or vent about anything u can also pm me.
