Topic: Please help!!
I was diagnosed with PCOS years ago, I had gastric bypass 12-30-08. For about 4 months after surgery I didnt have many problems, Now though, I am in CONSTANT pain! I have had a partial hysterectomy. I have only my ovaries, this was due to other issues.
Now all the docs I see say the same things, basically. I will suffer until I go thru the change. Or it cant hurt that bad. Or they REFUSE to remove my ovaries. I have been given BC pills and they do nothing for me!

What are some of my options? This pain is unreasonable, I can NOT tolerate it anymore. It is bringing me down! It has gotten way worse since RNY! I dont understand but would love some advice!
Is there meds I can take? Should I see a different doc? Any advice is welcome!
 Thank you!

Topic: RE: increased symptoms after wls?

Hello,

I have tried everything to straighten out my periods.  For almost two years on and off I have had huge bleeding which can last up to 21 days.  I have had the lining of my uterus burnt off, was on birth control pills which didnt straighten out the cramping or bleeding, been on progesterone which slowed the bleeding for a while but also slowed the weight loss, and now as of mid September I have a Mirena IUD.  From the last day of November to Dec 15th I had a period, and then last weekend on the 26th a period started again, and yesterday was day 7.

I am so frustrated with my situation with this so I can relate to what you are saying.

Unfortunately they do not want to do a hysterectomy on me, and at this point Im tried of going through this all the time.

I should have lost more than 115 lbs in 11 months after having the RNY, and still have another 100 lbs to go and fear I may not get to that point with the weight loss

Topic: RE: Help! I've had my period since AUGEST!
Since my surgery in April 2009,  I get excessive periods lasting over a month at a time.  Also large blood clots with heavy bleeding.  It does really mess things up for me and my hubby.  Now, so far Ive had a period since the beginning of October '09, and it's neverending since then, 3 months so far it has lasted. I also take thyroid meds, and it's still not helping.  I know my labs for my 9 month post op appt are going to show extreme low levels of iron.  I'm very tired all the time and also have been craving sweets all the time because of my period.  I sick and tired of it.  I'm in the same boat.  Just hoping and praying some doctor can help me and get to the bottom of it, I'm concerned I have something really wrong with me.

Topic: PCOS Patient *****gained weight after RNY
Morning,

I had my surgery in 2002, lost half my body size in about 8 months and kept it off for about 2 years with little or no problems. My PCOS symptoms vanished along with my other comorbidities.

In late 2003 I started feeling badly, symptoms of my PCOS were returning.  I assisted with online support groups and even traveled to be with people all over the United States during their surgeries to offer support and guidance.

Early 2004 I started to regain weight.  Not due to eating, was still active, was actually involved in more then my average activities. Just like before my surgery seemingly overnight i'd gain 10lbs at a time.

It would drop off, then come back.

By the end of 2004 I was back in a size 10/12 after a few years of being a 4/6.  I have been fighting my symptoms and my weight since then and last night I closed out 2009 weighing about 50lbs less than my original weight.

I'm devestated. I can't bear to look in mirrors, I am so torn apart by this. I need control in my life, and it's so hard to deal with an illness that I can't control.

I have taken metformin for years, it made me very sick, was eventually taken off of it.  My pouch is still small and my eating habits are still fairly great. I have my moments here and there, but nothing that could be responsible for my health.

I've spent the last few years struggling with debiliting migraines, one of my worst PCOS comorbidities, constant nausea and exhaustion.

I am determined that 2010 will be better, but i'm struggling.  Is anyone else in this same boat?

I am considering having the lapband, because I have this theory, as misguided as it may be, that constantly keeping my pouch the tiny size it was for the first 2 years is the key to keeping my PCOS in control.

Please, it's my turn to ask for advice and guidance.

I was just diagnosed with PCOS in December I haven't start any type of medication for it yet. I will see my doctor again the end of January which by the time I will see her I will already have my surgery. Does PCOS get better with the surgery? I really need to do more research about PCOS in general so if anyone has any good information or websites I would greatly appreciate it!!

New on this site my mom gave me a pamphlet about it...she got the lap band about 2 years ago and has been very sucessful. I'm not really looking into get the surgery my doc thinks I can lose the weight easier since I'm younger but that the lap band can be my last option if nothing else works. I'm just really struggling cause I have insulin resistance with the pcos so I pretty much only crave carbs and sweets. My husband and I have been trying almost 2 years before we found out what was wrong I too feel like a failure...my poor hubby is pretty sad about the whole situation. I recently came across a website for a more natural approach to pcos cause all my doc did was give me ocella and told me to lose weight and then she will put me on clomid...I was not happy with this approach at all. The site is insulitelabs.com I have read many reviews both off and on the site and it sounds promising so I ordered it and hope to get it in a few days. I was wondering if anyone has tried it? I was doing the south beach diet but it was super hard...Is there a easier diet that doesn't completely cut the carbs and is simple to follow? Thanks!

hello everyone im new to the forum,

i just happened to just type in PCOS forum and this is what i got, ive been dealing with PCOS for about 4 years now and have gained a tremendous amount of weight.  I have read a lot of your posts and seen that a lot of you are having the same issues that I am with the unexpect hair growth, weight gain, abnormal periods and what not and I have  seen that some of you are on metformin as well I have a question about that for those on metformin how long did it take your body to get use to it because my obgyn had put me on that and i was taking it for about 6 months and my body just could not handle it he reduced the dosage like 3 times then he told me he could not reduce any more because it would not have any effect on my body.  with the new year coming and all i figured i needed to find a good forum with good positive support because i really am going to try to loose weight and get back on a healthy life style even tho this is probably not the best time in my life due me going to nursing school atm but i need to do this since i am thinking about it and i want to do i know i need to this atm.  i am sure i will enjoy this forum and i hope you all enjoy me as i will enjoy ya'll and also i hope everyone had a wonderful holiday and i wish everyone a happy and safe new year!!!

Oh yes, much worse since surgery. More occurences of cysts popping, even heavier periods (wasn't sure that was possible!), horrid cramps (that sometimes keep me in bed), lots of bloating, and my periods are very regular now since 3 days post-op. I am planning on calling my gyn in January. I really hate living like this. Call your gyn...she may have some answers for ya.
