Topic: RE: Newbie with a Question about Facial Hair and Acne
Well for me no, it does not diminish i unfortunatly started having that facial hair issue when i was in the 8th grade. and it kept going all my life. i am a year and 3 months out. no such luck still have to shave cause it was so dense that plucking was never an option for me. if you are very fair skinned or caucasion or latina laser surgery will work wonders for you. if you are african american you have a longer road on this journey. i dont know if this will chane over the years. i am on spironolactone to help with the over production of andogens in my body. ( im hard headed i dont take it every day like i should. tired of spending 5 minutes plus paying my water bill.)  im going to go pop one now though. i do not have the adult acne though. by the Grace of God. But acne can be cured. Unfortunately it looks like this curse of facial hair is my cross to bear for the rest of my life. I am tired of crying over this. But this thing hinders me from having an active social life. I stay indoors alot and to my self. And i do not have a dating life at all. No matter how much make up i try to use on top of the dark spots on my upper lip chin, sideburns face and neck the dark spots still show through. even with concealer i have to cake on so much make up i look like i sat up and got out of a coffin some days. ( this is also very pricey) trying to find a foundation that will even out the skin and not  touch and smear on all my clothes. I am glad you posted this. i needed to vent again. I HAVE HEARD OF  people having chemical peels to get the dark spots gone and evening out skin, And most say go to the dermo. i have also seen some on youtube and on ebay where people have done it at home. Every doctor online that i have seen presented with this question has stated DO NOT DO CHEMICAL PEELS AT HOME. LET AN PROFESSIONAL ASSESS YOUR SKIN!!!!!   To each his own. Find a dermo, an endocrinologist or an doctor who specializes in pcos and go from there.

Topic: Newbie with a Question about Facial Hair and Acne
Hi All,

I am scheduled for surgery Dec 2nd and am new to this board.  I have a question about whether ladies with excessive facial hair who have lost most of their weight have noticed a reduction in the number of hairs and the color.  Right now, I have hundreds of dark hairs around my neck and chin area that I pluck and I am so tired of it.

I also have a mild case of adult acne and wonder if that begins to diminish with weight loss too. Do my hormones become more in balance over time?

Thank you for your time.

You can buy Vaniqua at Costco?? I had no idea. I use it and I love it. You just definitely have to stick with it and follow the directions. I put it on faithfully twice a day just like it says. It has made a huge difference for me. Especially if i pluck everything out instead of just shaving it, then put the cream on WOW that helps so much. YOu cant even tell. And believe me i have it thick! When i started it i let it grow as much as i could stand it during the weekend away from everyone to see and then plucked it out and put the cream on. I think thats what made the difference for me is getting the hair from the root as much as i could. Its so light now and if i do have so that grows back that i missed with the cream or if i forget ot put it on, they are very fine hairs, you cant even see them and they are soft, not all stubbly. I really love the cream. I'd rather use if for the rest of my life than be the "bearded lady".

Hi

I live in Austraila so I'm not to sure of the differences. I get a full blood work up every yr and I always have it back within 3 full working days. If I go in on a friday morning they  would be back by Tuesday, if I went in Friday afternoon they would be back by Wednesday.

Hope that helps

Topic: RE: wls and pcos
My PCOS symptoms went away right after surgery - 1 month after, I had surgery in 2002. I lost all my weight THEN had 2 children and now 7 years later, I am getting under-the-chin hair again and my hair is BAD. It was bad right after surgery and then improved. 2 kids later and 30 pounds later, my symptoms are back.  Except, I am still getting my period.

I am not a Dr.  but I am starting to wonder if our bodies have a set weight at which they are happy and everything functions so much better.  Even 20 pounds ago, I was not having any symptoms.

I really think the weight loss is magical for PCOS. I am new to the forum, so pardon me if you've heard this story 100 times :)

I had surgery (RNY) in 2002. Exactly one month to the day after surgery, I got my own period. ALL ON ITS OWN!!!! And 7 years later, it hasn't stopped coming. I am also "fertile myrtle" and have have had 4 pregnancies in 4.5 years (2 babies, though).   Let me say, that with the pregnancies, my weight has gone up and I am 30 pounds over my lowest weight and I still menstruate regularly but on longer cycles (28-33 days).  I think you've hit your "right" weigh to get things rolling.

Good luck.

Topic: RE: Has anyone Tried Vaniqua???
My experience has been different.  I have been using it for two months now and have been fairly pleased.  It has not removed ALL of the hair but it has made a HUGE, HUGE dent in it.  I bought the 30 gram tube at Costco for about $55 and I have about another month's worth left so $55 for three months in my mind isn't that bad.  I've done some electrolysis in the past = huge pain and I have a friend who did the laser hair removal and she said her hair came back.  So I don't know if there is a perfect answer out there but I am pretty happy with the cream.
