Topic: northern california laser surgery
Anyone have any recommendations for laser surgery (hair removal) in Northern California?
Topic: RE: pcos facial hair before and after wls?
I had the laser hair removal proceedure for my upper lip my chin, side burns, and neck basically facial hair from the upper lip down. is where i had the proceedure. a friend is telling me to try blue water spa here in raleigh, nc and that they actually have a better improved laser for women of color. and that the laser does not have to be on a very high setting to be effective.

Topic: pcos, absent periods and a d&c??
has anyones dr suggested a d&c to clean out the uterus after many months of no periods?? my 17 year old was having regular periods until about 7 months ago. she saw her endocrinologist about a month ago and was started on a round of provera to help induce a period as she hadnt even spotted during those 7 months. the first round failed. the dr double her dose for a second round and we are waiting to see if she has a period. the endo said if this round doesnt start her at least spotting that she will refer her to a gyno for a possible d & c. i feel terrible for her and am worried about how this action could affect her physically and emotionally. any words of wisdom??

Interesting...I don't know much about Depo...accept that it's a shot every 3 months. Does it work like other birth control (using estrogen and progesterone)? I have heard that after getting off of birth control (all sorts) sometimes your body has to readjust.
Endometriosis can also cause problems with regular menstrual cycles. Taking birth control with those hormones (especially the progesterone) has been shown to help alleviate symptoms (pain) of endometriosis (since there is no real cure).
Are you trying to conceive right now? Do you have any pain with your endometriosis? If you are not trying to conceive, and you want regular periods, and don't want the pain with endometriosis I would talk to your doctor about birth control. I think it could help in more ways than one...
Here is a link from the Mayo Clinic about treating PCOS:

And a link (also from Mayo) about treating Endometriosis:

Good luck to you - I know how frustrating it can be.

Topic: RE: no period for 3 yrs, until my lapband 2 days ago
That is interesting - I have PCOS too but I get periods.... where you on a protein liquid diet? I am willing to bet that is why. With PCOs just about the only thing your body metabolizes properly is protein - no fat no carbs. I dropped weight like crazy doing protein only diet (Unjury). Now its slow w/ the lapband and food, but i just got restriction... but I still try to keep it to low fat (40-50 grams) and if not working out 50 grams of carbs.

Wow thanks, I never heard that before. I did have regular cycles before I was on the Depo. I was once I got on the Depo that I didn't have a period, then once I got off it became very irregular. I went to my OBGYN and he did a lot of tests on and that's when they found out I possibly had PCOS then they did a exploratory surgery and found that yes I did have it. Then 2 years later I was still having a lot of prbolems, and they did another surgery and found the endometriosis.
But thanks for all that info. It makes a lot of sense.

I had my surgery jan and started with really bad symptoms of pcos in mar. Since then i've had a lot of other issues and yes pcos slows down your weight loss very dramatically. I lost fairly well in the beginning but now I am having trouble even losing a couple pounds. I eat my protein, take my vitamins and supplements and workout profusly and still have problems with losing. Don't want to discourage you but pcos really sucks and makes it harder to lose weight. Oh and all the co morbidities that I had prior to wls I still have because of pcos.
