Topic: RE: What happens after surgery with PCOD
I am currently 1yr and 5mo out from GB and I have PCOS or PCOD as you call it.  I have never been able to concieve before surgery.  Since surgery everything is the same for me.  Still have the facial hair and to me it seems just as bad as it was before surgery. As far as infertility, I am on my 5th round of Clomid right now.  I have Ovulated on the 1st, 2nd and 4th rounds.  Waiting to see if I O on this one.............  thought surgery would help me concieve quicker, guess it will take time if it even happens at all?

It limits what you can eat even if you want to eat more. I have tried every diet and never kept weight off. * months after surgery I am down 151 lbs. You need to workout and watch your diet but it is a lot easier than without surgery. My only regret is not doing it 5 years ago.
Good Luck.

This may sound like a stupid question but could someone explain to me how wls helps you loose weight rather than losing it on your on. I guess I am scared that I have the surgery and it still does'nt work. I have tried a lot of diets already. thanks in advance

I have PCOD for ... well since I was a teen. facial hair, weight problems, cycts removed.. and infertility.. had 2 babies via clomid!! one baby in heaven... my son is now 6.. Anyway what is it like after surgery?? do you still get all the problems??? or does it all go away?? I would love that.
and what about pregnancy? i dont want another one.. so i am started on the depo shots but is it easier to get PG??
I don't want to be barbie I just wan to be healthy!
Without change there wouldn't be butterflies...

I am really curious if the rny has helped any of you get them less frequently . . . I have hidradenitis very bad I have it on my stomach groin legs arms breasts behind ears neck etc. It is one of the main reasons I got referred to the surgery.

I am hoping it helps.

Topic: RE: facial hair
My rny was 4/28/09 and I have lost nearly 60 lbs and a lot of head hair, and GAINED even more facial hair. I have wondered if this relates to going off of metformin which I had been on for years, first for PCOS, and then to treat the diabetes that I later developed.
But, I was taken off it when my diabetes resolved itself soon after surgery, and I became hypoglycemic.
Now, my tweezing and shaving routine is that much longer and more necessary, and I am appalled by how quickly it regrows, especially as my already thin head hair is getting even thinner.

I have written a lot about my hair issues, and have some head pics on my website (daily blog) below. If you wanted to zoom right into my posts about hairiness or PCOS, you can just enter these words into "search" and press enter.

Good luck with this problem, and now that I have found this discussion group, I will check back to see how you are doing.

I'm glad your feeling better. Its gonna take sometime but you'll get there. I am still waiting to hear from my PCP. I actually called her yesterday but their office was closed. I really want to get this over and done with. I am actually kind of worried with the recovery part only because I don't have too many vacation days left so don't know if I will feel up to coming back to work in a week. I think I only have about a wk left of vacation and I can't afford to take anytime off without pay. I work in an office and sit all day long basically. I do get up and help a few customers that might come in and pick up stuff but I have no heavy lifting duties other than pencils and pens. LOL. I am pretty good on tolerating pain so I don't think I should be bad in that part. I was really good when it came to my WLS. I was back to work the next day after I was released and I drove myself to work. I had open RNY with a drain for a month after my surgery. Also I hope I can have it done asap I feel alot more cramping and pain when I'm not on my period and my period is so out of whack even with BCP's. I hate being this way and can't wait till it happens and don't have to deal with periods or anything else. I don't mind having to take hormones and what not as long as I get this situation taken care of before I have to pay my deductible for my insurance. LOL. Well feel better and take care of yourself and keep me posted on how your feeling would like to keep in contact with you.

Don't worry the 1st is right around the corner! Time flies just make sure to keep those little demons away. Put yourself to the test and prove yourself right. That you can control your hunger don't let it control. Once you get your fill you'll be good. You'll see you just need to patient and remember you just had a major surgery so that could also be iv fluids in your system still. Just keep on trucking you'll be good. LOL
