Topic: RE: WLS/Hysterectomy

Well mom was just trying to nurse you back to health. LOL. I love potatoes but they are bad!! LOL.  Well I'm hoping that I'll be one of those lucky ones and not be affected by weight gain. I would hate to gain my weight back after all the sacrifice. So how do you feel now are you atleast feeling like your back to normal. I am so ready for having my hysterectomy I'm just waiting on my PCP and OBGYN to come to an agreement. My PCP agrees that a hysterectomy is the best but my OBGYN feels that I need to wait. Don't know for what but he says he just won't perform that type of procedure on anybody and their sister. But my PCP is the one who's taking care of me and doing all the required tests to confirm that it is actually nessasary. Thanks for the website info I'm gonna try that. Want to go into this fully informed and ready for what ever happens afterwards. Will keep you posted and please let me know how you're feeling since you've already had your hysterectomy.

Thank you,

Liz

it can help if you lose the weight..
But it doesn't take away the part of the stomach that overproduces teh testosterone that makes you insulin resistant.. and keeps the weight on you anyways...

VSG and DS really are best for PCOS... and longterm PCOS "cure"...

I'm 1 month out.. and every PCOS symptom is GONE.

Have you seen your OB yet?  Instead of being cancer it could also very well be a benign ovarian cyst or benign uterine fibroid.  Good luck!

I had 2 perfectly healthy pregnancies after my RNY.  I got pregnant the 1st time at 16 months post op and the 2nd time at 3.5 years post op.  I took 2 prenatals, calcium, B complex & sublingual B12.   As far as food went I made sure that I ate something either a meal or a snack about every 3 hrs or so.  I gained 30lbs with my 1st pregnancy & my daughter weighed 6lb 3oz and my 2nd pregnancy I gained 28lb and my 2nd daughter was 7lb 12oz, both babies were born term at 39w.

I know plenty of ladies who've gotten pregnant before the year mark and had perfectly healthy babies.  Check out the post op pregnancy board for some awesome stories.  Good luck!

Topic: RE: PCOS before and after weight loss surgery
I was diagnosed in 2005 with PCOS and knew nothing about it.  At the time i had just had my second child, and was struggling both physically and mentally with the major weight gain....after two pregnancies i doubled in weight!! After losing some i naturally concieved my son who was born this past winter. Now, unfortunatly, i am right back at my heaviest. I am struggling to lose the 5 percent that will allow me to have a RNY. does any one have any suggestions?? weigh gain has been my major symptom however, recently my insulin resistence is getting worse even on Metformin and i have stopped periods on BC. i have also had high BP since the last trimester  of my third child.  i am feeling defeated!!
thanks, new to this ,

Hi Liz... I just had my Hysterectomy 4 weeks ago. I feel your pain and I have to say that I think it is different for everyone. I had a mom that stuffed me with potatoes and fried foods for 3 weeks and as a result I have seen a weight gain. Most the women I know have lost weight afterwards but those women have not had WLS surgery either.

Try posting hystersisters.com there may be someone there that can answer better then I can :) And Keep me informed!

Topic: RE: Hysterectomy after lap-band
In my original post I should have included that the foods I ate over the first 3 weeks were not controlled (cooked or planned) by myself and were all my fav comfort foods, courtesy of mom trying to be a good caretaker. SO even though I DID control the amount that I ate(which was so hard to do without ANY restriction which is what my ''tool" is supposed to give me) I could not control the foods that I ate.

So in reply to you post thanks for the advice, but I do SEE someone and I know WHY I eat the way I do and I also know why I gained the weight.

As I am feeling discouraged what I would like to see are words of encouragement or if anyone else has had weight gain after surgery.

What I seek is some encouragment.

@ I'm not in a hurry to have my guts rearranged, lose weight...only to regain it back gradually.  What's the point?  I don't expect (or want) a quick fix, but a permanent one.

NEWS FLASH!!! Nothing will be permanent if you do not do what you are suppose to do. If you go back to your old habits you will regain your weight. Seems to me that you may want to do more research before you decide to have any type of weight loss. JMO

This is why WLS is supposed to be a tool. You have to change your mind, because if you dont you will regain the weight. I would suggest you going to see someone and learning why you eat the way you do.
