Hey,
I'm glad you have an appt with the GYN. Is it soon? I hope all works out well for you and that you are not in any more pain.

First I can say I do have an appointment with gYN but it is freaking me out. I was diagnosed wih pcos while trying to get pregnant, I did have three babies. I had WLS just over a year ago, I have reached my goal and have lost 140lbs, for the past 7 months I have been having breakthrough bleeding. If I strain to go to the bathroom I spot, excercise I spot,in addition I am having full periods a couple of times a month every once in awhile. I have found my lower pelvis about 3" below my belly button very sensitive. My 18 month old son was sitting on me when suddenlu he jumped up and landed in that area, it hurt so bad but only for about 20seconds, about 10 min later I got up and. I had not been on my period when I stood up it gushed out, lasted a couple of hours and went away. I'm scared I have cancer anyone have an idea as to what is wrong. Feel free to email me as I really want to know I'm ok

Topic: RE: HELP! PCOS with insulin resistance. over 1 year most op with minumal weight loss
For me after I started losing weight when I was banded, I was taken off metformin because my blood sugars became controlled. They watched this through my Hgb A1C. My energy sky rocketed but that could easily be because of less weight! My acne cleared up. My pelvic pain from inflamed ovaries and cysts disappeared. And my periods started again but still weren't regular.
Of course, after my band was deflated and I started gaining the weight back all my PCOS symptoms came back and were worse then before. I am hoping with the sleeve my weightloss will be more permenant and I can kiss PCOS goodbye. Well, for the most part anyway....

Topic: RE: facial hair
I have spent sooo much money into electrolysis and laser treaments about 6000 in total and it still isn't all gone, I could have grown a full beard, it was awful, I was only 17 when I started with the electrolysis, I am hoping that I will be able to afford to do a few more lasor treatments in the near future. Having the facial hair has been an awful experience in my life, I hope that after the surgery I will have something about me that I will like, I feel for all women who have to deal with all these issues. Good luck all.

I am 2 weeks post op lapband. I did not have this info. Are there any further test to show the progression/regression of PCOS. I have been on YAZ for about a year and have done well. My periods have been consistant and not as heavy (before 2-3 pads at once). No more fatigue, sometimes my sugar drops drastically. What should I expect with pcos after the lapband surgery?

I am 2wks post op--lapband. I did not know any of this information. Are there any banders out there with pcos that have been successful?
Topic: RE: Painful Period!
Honestly??? You may not want to hear this but they were FAR worse for me after RNY. Even with PCOS I had a normal cycle. I only bled about 3 days though and there was little to no pain. After RNY I thought I was dying.
I bled on average 25 days a month. It seemed to be never ending. The cramping left me in a fetal position and dependent on Oxycontin for almost a year. It was only after having an ablation in March of this year did I return to any semblance of normalcy.
Obviously I am one of the *weird* ones. LOL
I hope things go better for you than me!

I too have PCOS with insulin resitance. I was banded in 2007 and lost about 40-60 lbs. Then my band failed from slipping multiple times since I vomited with everything.
They took the band out and we did the sleeve. 2 weeks post op and 22 lbs down... I think this is the right decision. I don't feel hunger.... I literally can't eat sugar without facing dumping syndrome. With the band you have to really focus on self control and food choices.... that was something I wasn't very good at doing.
Keep working hard...

Topic: RE: Has anyone gotten pregnant before the 1 year of post op is up?
I was pregnant with the lap band. Everything went fine. I had an appt with my surgeon to discuss what I needed to make sure to do. She told me to make the most nutritious food choices, vitamins and only consume an extra 200-500 calories/day. She said most people use pregnancy as an excuse to eat for two but a healthy pregnancy doesn't need that much!
I was told not to get pregnant before 18 months post-op but if you feel you would be safe and healthy go for it... It's your body....
