Hi Ladies!!
(I'm gonna go out on a limb and assume you're all ladies... since, well, men don't generally have PCOS
)
I was banded just barely three weeks ago..... and today I started my first period since.
To be honest, I had NO IDEA it was coming..... I didn't get the usual cramps or "*****ies" or anything!!!!
Pre-surgery, my periods were HELLLLLL (as I'm sure many of you can relate). The damn cysts would flare up... to the point where I had five seperate trips to the Emergency room in the past 12 months. My periods were so bad that I could not get out of bed without loading up on Demerol... they seriously controlled my life during "that time of the month."
I hate to sound like a drama queen... but I'm not exaggerating at all, unfortunately. They got progressively worse and worse as I gained more and more weight..... and thanks to the insulin resistance, it was damn near impossible to lose any of the weight. :(
Anyway.... I was just kinda excited to have a NORMAL period for the first time in over two years.... and a little baffled as to why things got easier so quickly after surgery. I've lost about 27lbs total... I'm hoping the weight loss is what's made the difference.
How has WLS affected your PCOS? I'd love to know!! :)

no change for me, although my smaller face and fewer chins make it less obvious (in my view).
healthy again... and thankful!

What happens is your body is now stressed and women's hormones sometimes kick off when you start to lose weight. What I did was go back for a touch up on my lazer hair removal treatment and it worked wonders.

I had Lazer Treatment and it worked wonders. Once you get it to a certain level you only go in once or twice a year.

I tried that years ago, and it was even the nair that is specifically for your FACE and it did the same thing to me. It was HORRIBLE. I had a zit mustache!

Being at peace with yourself is a direct result of finding peacewith God.
I don't know that I have alot of answers. I have had the lap band and am in the process of revision to RNY. I had PCOS and Endo when my hyst was done at 32. (9 years ago.) I have been told that PCOS never truly goes away even after a hyst. I sometimes still have pain, skin tags, weight problems.
OK now I am rambling. I don't know if this helped or not. Good Luck and keep sharing if you find any more information.
BTW I have heard that RNY is a good surgery for PCOS'er because it effects the hormones. Has anyone else heard this?
