OMG, I thought I was the only person in the world that had these and was too embarassed to speak of them, especially the ones in places we don't usually talk about.  With my PCOS raging it is good to know I am not alone.

I do have to say that I have found that spironolactone helps my PCOS, especially the hair loss and extra hair all over.

Hi!  My dermatologist subscribed Vaniqa and if used regularly it works well.  I've been using the cream for about a year in conjunction with waxing and although it doesn't remove the hair completely, it grow at a slower pace and not as dark.

Congrats!!! I have only posted here a few times but I'm in the same boat. One of the main reasons I had the surgery (RNY) was so I could start a family. Well on Easter I found out I was pregnant ( 15 weeks now) and I'm thrilled but scared. The nutritional issues don't scare me so much b/c all my labs have been great but I wasn't a year out until 4/29 and I concieved around 3/26 so small concern there but so far so good. Best of luck with you pregnancy, now my greatest concern (WLS related) is gaining weight...how crazy. P&PT's.

I have tried the nuva ring but it was too strong for me so I am glad that it works for you thought.

Topic: Facial Hair and Nair Hair Facial Remover
I have PCOS and I struggle with the daily facial hair growth which is beyond embarrassing. So I tried out the nair facial hair remover to see if I could get some possitive results from it. It did the oppossite for me and broke me out so bad that I now have like raised bumps where you can see that I tried to get rid of hair. Anyway I have washing my face with neutrogena and putting hydrocortison on the bumps because it kinda looks like a rash now. This is just warning people if they are thinking of using nair facial hair remover to be careful especially if you have sensitive skin.

So glad you've found relief.  The right pcp means everything yet is so elusive.

Topic: pcos symptoms better after wls?
i was diagnosed with pcos in 2005. i think the only symptoms i had were irregular periods (they are on track now) more facial hair,  weight gain and possibley a very little thingin of the hair on my head. i had gastric bypass 23 days ago and im wondering how long (if ever) any of your symptoms that match mine above got better? or am i destined to have a couple hairs on my chin and sideburn area forever?i pluck them put it would be nice for them to go away for good! also do women with pcos lose weight slower or any different then "regular" wls patients?

Topic: I finally got some relief!
For you PCOS'ers.. recently, I went to a new PCP after years with another who told me there was nothing she could do for my PCOS symptoms - after failed attempts at the pill, patch, and depo (which made my obesity worse!) my new PCP gave me nuva ring.. she said that she has many patients who have PCOS, and are in a position where wanting at least some relief. I was very skeptical at first.. if you've ever seen the Nuva Ring.. you'll know why.

Well after using it for 3 months, I have had nothing but consistency! I must say that this is like a miracle - I've had menses since I was 10..and NEVER in the last 14 years has it been regular, no matter what I did. This past 3 months have been amazing. The day after I take it out, like clock work I begin my period. That's it! It's not as heavy, in fact, SIGNIFICANTLY lighter.. I mean, I used to go through an entire box of tampons.. without thinking about it.. within 4-8 days.. and these periods would last forever. These past times.. about 3-4 days.. regular flow the whole time.. tapered off nicely around the 3rd day and that was it. I had the next few days without the period and no ring in.. I was just beside myself with happiness.

In addition to taking care of my period issues, she also gave me spiro for the hormonal sides - 25mg to start helping my body stop converting the testosterone so quickly.. I've noticed a significant decrease in hair growth as well as me not having such a high water weight issue.. although I pee a lot ;) It's nice to not be bloated the whole month either. I've been so thankful for this new PCP.. you have no idea guys!

Just wanted to let you guys know that this has been a great experience for me and I hope that some of you can find some sort of relief.. if not with the ring, maybe with something else.

You should get tested. Especially if you want another child.
