Topic: RE: does pcos go away?
Hello :)

Since my surgery in December, I have been  having regular periods again.  I'm probably more regular now then I have ever been.  The hair is till there (UGH).  PCOS does not go away completely, after losing weight the symptoms will lessen.
I never had alot of boils...but I have not had any since surgery.  I have noticed that I don't have any new skin tags.  I also had insulin resistance (pre diabetes) and now I no longer have that.

Have you had surgery or are you pre op? Have you discussed PCOS with your Doc?

I have had pcos since i'v been in highschool so..umm around 10  years now
and all the symptons you just said you had sounds like everything i have
the facial hair and irregular periods are big signs of pcos
just be honest with  your doctors
tell him/or/her that you have been doing some reserches and that you are concerned you might have pcos and ask him/or/her what they think
al it takes is is some blood work and they should be able to dignosed you
but haveing all the other sings it sounds like you do

I've been reading about PCOS, and wonder if I should be tested for this.  I have always had crazy irregular periods, although that improved when I was on the pill, and now that I have lost almost 100 lbs.  Dark facial hair - a lot, since I was 14 or so, seems to be worsening horribly with age, boils (which I was just reading about on another thread here), maybe 15-20 skin tags ...  And I had gestational diabetes during my pregnancy, and seem to have had blood sugar issues my whole life (used to faint from low blood sugar, and post-WLS am having hypoglycemia if I don'****ch it and stay low carb & eat often enough).  Can you help me with what to ask my doctor?  I have talked about some of these issues with him in the past - is there a specific test or something that would help to clarify whether all of this might be linked to PCOS? --Sarah

Topic: RE: PCOS And the Depo Shot?
I have had PCOS for the last 10 + years.... I did not have much break through bleeding with the Lupron (Depo) shot- however I did gain 70 pounds in 3 months because of it.  I would go back to the pill.  (This was prior to my WLS)

Topic: RE: Post hysterectomy w/PCOS
Hi there,
I also have PCOS with endometriosis.  I had a total hysterectomy in 2006, and had gastric by-pass surgery in 2007.  I did not have facial hair or brown patches, and I did take metformin for a short while.  The hysterectomy seem to clear up my pain, although I think it was mostly from the ovarian cysts cause by the pcos.  My WLS went off without any incidents.  I take lots of calcium as a precaution because I am also young.  I am from ontario, and had my surgery with Dr O'Malley in Rochester.  Good luck to you!

I don't have PCOS but I did use Depo a few years ago...well okay maybe it was like 12 years ago. LOL  Anyway, the first round was the worst!  Constant breakthrough bleeding, cramps, sore breasts, it was really miserable.  All these symptoms pretty much vanished after the second shot.  I wouldn't give up just yet, because I think it takes most depo users a bit to get used to the hormones and if the symptoms settle down for you it's a great, effective and worry free method of birth control.  Good luck!

Topic: PCOS And the Depo Shot?
Hi everyone.. I recently had the DS surgery in march and i decided to go on the needle so i wouldn't get pregnant. I havent had a period in almost a year but now that i've been on the shot.. I have NOT stopped bleeding. I have SERIOUS cramping where i feel like i can't do anything and i'm in tears every day with the heating pad onmy tummy.. Should i go back on the pill after this round of the shot is over with in June? Is there anything i can do to to make the bleeding stop? Seriously 2 months of it And i'm sick of it!!!! lol!

Sorry for the rant!
