I'm glad you went and got checked out. At least you know. You are a step ahead of me. I'm dealing with a stricture right now so I'll have to follow up with my OBGYN in April.
At least you know what to do now. That's awesome!

Hello everyone,
Well I posted a while back about the symptoms I was having and wondered if it was a possibility. Well I had my obgyn appt yesterday and told him everything that I was experiencing and he said yup its more than likely pcos. I wasn't shocked because there were alot of people on this board that had already told me thats what it was. So now I am on birth control to try to regulate my periods. Which I hate because I had my tubes tide 5 years ago. So now I have to bother with pills again. The good thing is that if I forget to take 1 atleast I know I can't get pregnant. Well he also did my follow up pap. I had a leep procedure done back in Jan to remove some mild dysplasia as they say (abnormal cells). He said everything looked good from the procedure was concerned. I was going to need 2 more paps after this one but he said if this comes bac****which he said everything looked healthy and healed) then I could come back in 6 months instead of 3 and that would be my last one till next year. I hate having to deal with pap after pap after pap! Yuk its such a drag. So I mentioned to him a possible hysterectomy. I just feel since I've already had the mild dysplasia and there is always that possibility of it turning into something else why not prevent it. Also, my mother had cervical cancer a few years ago but we were lucky we caught in time and they did a total hysterectomy and she is ok now. I just don't want to end up having it turn into something bad if I can do something about it now. Maybe with PCOS diagnosis and a little convincing he'll do it. Well thanks to everyone who helped me confirm the possiblity.

Topic: RE: PCOS and Surgery
Yep it is possible. I've had two different outcomes from surgeries. I either get AF or she goes away for awhile. You could still take a pg test to make sure but yeah, it is possible that the surgery is messing with you.
Topic: RE: Lap Band and PCOS Question
Hi all!
I'm new to this website and have posted on a few forums here. I also have PCOS and just wanted to thank you for this post and your honest reponses. It has made me feel good about my choice to do the Band. My surgery is May 4th and I was really starting to worry about this same issue. So thanks again!

Topic: PCOS and Surgery
I have a strange question. I was diagnosed with PCOS 2 years ago. The thing is I have 2 children already and then when my PCOS symptoms got worse the doctor told me I may have a difficult time conceiving again. And my peroids run pretty close to regular. I've only skipped one and sometimes I may be a few days late. Well my last period was Feb 20th, I had my lapband surgery on March 19th. So that was right around time to start. Well it's 10 days late now and I'm starting to get worried. They did a preg test the day of surgery as a precaution....
Is it possible that the surgery knocked my period outta wack????

I too have PCOS. I've been told time and time again by others that the lapband would be harder with having PCOS. And that may chose RNY because they have PCOS. But I would rather work harder myself than have my insides cut up and rearranged. I'm only 11 days post-op but have lost 16 lbs since I started this journey. I wouldn't change a thing!

Topic: Introducing Me...
I just wanted to introduce myself. I'm Sia and I have had PCOS for quite a long time. It has been quite a road with myriad rocks (as you are all quite aware of). I finally came to the conclusion that something had to change when I had over eight miscarriages. I've grown tired of struggling and the impetus of feeling free, for once in my life, since puberty is the motivation that I needed to pursue the DS. I'm 32 and it's so time. It's been long over due. I'm tentatively looking to be scheduled for surgery on the 27th or 30th of April and well, I'm just looking forward to learning from you guys as I embark this surgery!

Topic: RE: How does the Dr determine how many mg's of Met?
I take Riomet, a liquid form of Metformin. The tablets were just to harsh on my RNY pouch. I take 1.5 tsp a day, one dose, once a day, which equals 1000 mgs. a day I think. I've had NO side effects or adverse reactions to it at all. My BS has stabelized greatly, but my weight is still comming off slowly. Most of my PCOS symptoms have disappeared, especially the pain at ovulation...its non existant now. I have been on it about 6 weeks now, so the positive WLS effects should be kicking in soon. Wish me luck as I wish you luck!
