Topic: RE: Waiting for Lab Results.
I also took both of those meds before and after surgery for a short bit. And then was told my labs showed I did not need them anymore and I'm not on them now.
I did not think Synthroid was for PCOS though. My understanding was that it was for hypothyroid. Either way, both of these conditions have gotten better for me post-op. Thyroid seems to be doing A-OK on its own now and PCOS is better but not perfect. Just that the Glucophage wasn't helping it anyway after surgery and I hate the side effects!
Best of luck!

Topic: RE: Question about PCOS and Lupus
Thanks for replying. I am on and off pred. too. Having lupus with swollen joints and extreme fatigue makes it much more difficult to get moving for weight loss. I am just trying to figure out how to fit in my pre-pregnancy clothes. I was already overweight, but I still need to lose 12 lbs to be back to pre-pregnancy weight.
Topic: RE: Lap Band and PCOS Question
I'm another Cyster....I have very irregular cycles, almost feel like I am in menopause!! I'm infertile, and have packed on the pounds rather quickly over the past 5-10 years. I can loose when I am on a high protein diet (I stall like everyone else does and that was/is always hard to get through). I am hoping the band will do the trick. I have always been a carb addict, so I am pretty sure I have always had PCOS...wasn't diagnosed until DH and I were trying to conceive (7 years ago).
We can do it, it just might take us a little longer, or not, I hope.....

Topic: RE: how much weight
Hey you have the same surgeon as me. I went to GBMC and Dr Moein. I had my sHow much weight did you lose in 6mos if you don't mind me asking?urgery in Sept.08
Topic: RE: how much weight
I would say as I was losing the weight right before surgery I had noticed getting my cycle regular. Of course after surgery they want you to be on some kind of form of birth control. I hated that part knowing I couldn't get pregnant one way or the other. I am hoping that I am actually ovulating. As I am now 2 years post op and want my 1st and probably only child.

Topic: RE: Question about PCOS and Lupus
Hi I have lupus too. I have had it since 1979, I was 14. I had VSG last Sept. I am sorry I don't have any suggestions to help you lose weight as I battled with that myself. I am also on pred which makes it harder. I still battle with that even with WLS. Maybe we can chat sometime.
Topic: Question about PCOS and Lupus
Hi, My name is Joy. I am 26 from Alabama. I am married with 3 children and I have SLE and PCOS. My lupus effects my joints and I have organ involvement. I also battle severe fatigue. I am also obese and need to lose at least 75lbs. This is difficult with severe pain from lupus and the added hurdle of trying to lose weight with pcos. Any helpful suggestions are very welcome!
Thanks,
Joy

Topic: RE: This board is really no support at all
I too have found this board a bit dissapointing but I hope that if we keep sticking around maybe eventually it will pick up...Ive been reading soulcysters off and on for years, its a great site, and yes more helpful in some ways
