Topic: RE: Never been diagnosed but could be possible?
Thanks....I will have him look into everything.  My appt is just right around the corner so atleast I can bring this up to his attention. I'm hoping that on this visit when they do the pap everything comes out normal. I'll need to have two more after and if they are all normal then I go to every year. But if I have alteast another abnormal pap then they want to do another procedure. So hopefully I can have this taken care soon. I would just prefer to have all the plumbing taken out since I don't need it anymore (I had my tubes tide a few years back) so thats why. But a lot of people say for me not to go there cause I'm too young and too many side effects. I would just love not to have a period anymore!! But I'll be carefull on what I wish for. I don't want cancer, either. My mother had cervical cancer a few years back and though she was very very lucky not everyone has the same fate. Thanks for all the suggestions.

It's possible that this could be from PCOS.  Have your doctor do an ovarian ultrasound to check for multiple small cysts as well as labs to check your testosterone, fasting insulin, FSH/LH ratio & fasting glucose to be sure.  PCOSers have elevated testosterone as well as a FSH/LH ratio that is more than 3:1 and may women with PCOS are also insulin resistant which is indicated by an elevated fasting insulin level.

Good luck with your cervical dysplasia...I hope it doesn't turn into cancer!

I was never on Synthroid but did take Glucophage for about 5 years prior to my surgery...4 years for IR and the last year for IR & Diabetes.  I stopped taking my Glucophage the day before surgery and have not needed to take it again.  My fasting glucose & insulin numbers are normal even now at 4.5 years post op.  If you still have a hint of IR the Glucophage may still help, but you have be careful of it bottoming out your bood sugars.  Good luck with the labs!  Keep us posted as to how they come out.

Kristi- seems like there are alot of younger women on that SoulCysters.... I like OH Pregnancy After Weightloss Forum a little bit better because the women are older and more experienced. But seems like they aren't interested in responding as much to posts?

Topic: Never been diagnosed but could be possible?
Could I possibly have PCOS? I've always had normal paps never had anything abnormal or different in any of them. Last year I had my annual pap and a few weeks later was called to come in have another test done. My obgyn said it looked like cervical dysplaysia and wanted to rule of few things out. So went in and had another pap performed and thought that that was it. It was over and done with. But a few weeks later received another phone call for me to come in and discuss my options. I went in they said it was cervical dysplaysia but it was just starting. My options were to perform a leep procedure or keep having paps done every so many months. Prior to this I noticed that I had started having more frequent irregular periods were some months they'd be really light or really really heavy. Some months would be 26 days others would turn into 32 days. I noticed more facial hair over my lips and under my chin. I also noticed more hair growth on the side of my face. It no longer looked like peach fuzz. My skin was constantly breaking out face, chest and body. I also noticed on my face brown spots that looked like freckles but I know there not. Now I had never heard of PCOS but could it possible be that is what I have. What should I do? I have my next appt with my obgyn in a couple of weeks should I bring this to his attn and what tests will he recommend or should I ask him to do?

I think it could possibly be PCOS that you have.  Give the weight loss a little more time to make things better.

I have been having problems with dark patches of skin on my face and lately I have a lot more facial hair than ever. I have always had crazy periods! 28 days sometimes it would stretch as far out as 32 days. I am a little over 7 wks out and haven' t really noticed any improvements but have also never been told that I could have PCOS. Someone else informed me of the possiblity thats what my problem is. Could it possibly be.

Topic: Waiting for Lab Results.
I was diagnosed a few years ago with PCOS.  Though no lab work was done, I was given a prescription of Glucophage and Synthoid.
I had RNY last year.  And surgeon took me off the medication.
New OB/GYN is now doing all the lab work..and now I'm waiting for results.
My question for you wonderful women out there...
Will Glucophage and Synthoid help or hinder the problem after surgery?

Start Weight:  498 --1/17/07
RYN Weight:  456--1/17/08
Now Weigh:   324--3/17/09

Topic: RE: question about PCOS and Gastro Bypass
My symptoms have gotten much better. As far as I understand it, PCOS doesn't really "go away", rather, it kind of "quiets down" or goes into remission, if you will.

The propensity towards PCOS is something you will still have, so if you were to gain weight again, your PCOS symptoms would be likely to return.

I am very glad I had RNY to help manage my PCOS.
