Topic: I'm excited!! Found out I am O'ing !!
I had a Obgyn appt. today.I went to use the restroom and thought it odd that i had a really bad discharge(sorry tmi). I saw a new dr and went over my medical stuff.Had a pap and he wanted to do a vaginal ultrasound and take a look at my ovaries to see what kind of shape they are in .While he was looking he said well look at that.I thought something was wrong. But he said i had a follicle measuring 20-21 something like that.He told me to go home a have sex today and tomorrow. He also wrote me a script for 6 months of clomid,in case i don't conceive this month.I have NEVER O'ed on my own before. So ,this is positive news for me.When I saw the eggwhite discharge ,I new something was up.Maybe i will finally have my baby.Hubby has to do a Semen analysis in 3 months if i am not pregnant by then.I am so surprised he wrote me a script since i am only 8 1/2 months out.I have lost 100 lbs .Weighed 255 and now 156.I am trying to be positive, this is the 1st good news i have had relating to fertility.

Topic: RE: Dealing with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and This Hair
Hey all - I also have PCOS. I couldn't handle the metformin or glucophage that I was prescribed. It made it almost impossible to handle with a full time job. The bathroom was practically my office. I've been off it 7 or 8 years and waxing my under chin and upper lip. I also use tweezers like crazy. I have them everywhere. bathroom, purse, car, night stand. I hope this embarrassing problem will go away after surgery. I feel so dirty with the dark skin patches I am constantly cleaning around my neck 2 to 3 times a day.
Topic: RE: Pregnancy after WLS
I will be 1 year on March 5th 2009 and I am 10 weeks pregnant right now. I had to have fertility drugs to have my other two kids that where befor gastric bypass. I did not even have to try to get pregnant this time. Talk about SHOCKED I was not feeling well and thought that I might have the flu. Well I did not have the flu I was pregnant. I guess everything happens for a reason!

Topic: RE: VSG or MGB

I think the MGB is not a good surgery. I know some people are happy with it but it has some serious issues and I think there's a reason it's pretty much only one guy performing it.
I have a DS, which is a VSG with a duodenal switch (intestinal bypass.) I was never told I had to avoid gum or salad, and I drink carbonated (diet) beverages without any problems. At any rate, if I had to choose between MGB and VSG I'd take VSG, but from what I've read, the bypass operations (DS and RNY) help put PCOS in remission better than restriction only surgeries.

What is Chronic Illness?
"A chronic illness is a condition that lasts a year or longer, limits activity, and may require ongoing care. More than 125 million Americans have at least one chronic condition, such as diabetes, cancer, glaucoma, heart disease, Fibromyalga, Multiple Sclerosis, and Lupus. Nearly half as many have more than one chronic condition."
Hello,
This group was specifically created for WLS candidates and post ops who like me face the unique challenges that living with a chronic illness may often present. As individuals with a chronic illness, we face greater challenges that the typical mainstream weight loss surgery patient may not face. Sometimes we feel left out of the loop as we read about others who are doing certain activities that we are no longer able to fully tolerate.
You may find the group by clicking on groups in your index. Once at groups, type in the word Chronic Illness in the search box and the correct group will appear.

Topic: RE: Riomet?
Sorry... I do not use Riomet. I just wanted you to know that Riomet is pretty uncommon, so you might not get any responses. I work in a busy pharmacy, and we only have 1 patient on it. So you might have better luck actually calling some pharmacies and talking to different pharmacists about what to expect with it. And I didn't want you to feel like people were ignoring you... I think its just something people don't use.
Topic: RE: Dealing with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and This Hair
i was just wondering how u last taking 1000mg of metformin. that drug is tough on the stomach and i have tried taking 3 differant times. each of those times i stop taking the medication, my dose got increased up to 1500mg i think. i was so weak and tired from all of the runs to the restroom. i also have the facial hairs, but i am living with it i guess. i was told that the metformin would help with the facial hair, but i have yet to stay on the medication long enough...lol
my next concern is with this pcos, i am hoping when im ready to have kids its not going to be too hard to concieve. i only get a period like 2 or 3 times for the year. i just finish taking the generic of the provera and i should have gotten my period by now. my doc wants me back on the birthcontrol to get my periods regular again, she is concern over time i will get cancer by not having a period every month.
