Have you heard of a forum called soul cysters?
That has TONS of information.

Anyway, I have PCOS and what I can tell you is this. Laser will not help you unless your hormones are under control...
I had 15 laser treatments to my upper lip and it didn't help until I got my hormones under control.
All the laser technicians I have talked to have said the same thing.

In addition to suffering from PCOS related hirsuitism, I also suffer from major hair loss isssues (on my head). we just get hair in all the wrong places. In an attempt to regrow this hair, I have recently started taking flutamide. This is a very hardcore medication usually used to treat prostate cancer but has shown to have wonderful results with regrowing hair. It is a very powerful anti-androgen. I have been on it for 6 months now, and while I have yet to notice new hair growth on my head, I have noticed a marked decrease in body hair. It is much sparser, much finer, lighter in color and grows back much more slowly if shaved or waxed.

Topic: new to forum thanks so much for the info

Hello I am new to this forum and want to thank you all for all the info. I was diagnosed with PCOS in 2006. My endicronologist said I probably have had it all my life. My WLS surgeon says I may not ever be off of Metformin, but some of you have given me hope. Thanks for that.

I didn't have success having a period with the ring.  I did it for three months after being off depo for six months....no luck.  I finally had Fenton FE pill to get me started (after trying other pills).  What has helped me maintain having a period without the pill is taking Metformin (regular, not extended release).  Now after not having a period for five year (depo shot) and prior to that only with ortho...I have had one three months in a row with just metformin.  The only thing I will mention, my hormones have been crazier that ever before.  After being regulated for so long on some form of BC; it's been hard to adjust to mood swings, etc.

Good luck! Stacey

You may have already tried this to help aide you, but are you using Metformin?  I am still on it after losing 120 pounds...because of PCOS.  I did find that I couldn't take the extended release version; had to go with old fashion twice a day pill, but it does help with my hungry, etc.  Just a thought...good luck to you!  Stacey

I AM so glad I am not the only one going threw this!!! OMG!!!  I have had PCOS since I basically started puberty. (Which was at 9yrs old) I never knew what I had until about 4 yrs ago. Im 31 now. I just use to think I was weirder than all my friends. Abnormal periods, and this darn Hair! especially on my face and these dark spots! Im really praying having this surgery that I had will help me with some weightloss. I still have problems with this hair and dark spots. But hopefully they will improve. I lost my uterus in may of 08 because of irregular bleeding or should I say constant bleeding. But Im dealing with it okay I suppose. Would of liked one more child but its okay, I have two wonderful little boys. Tried so many times for a girl! Just wasnt meant to be. But its okay now, Ive got to concentrate on me now and my health. Thats why I decided to have the RNY done. But please if anyone having PCOS would like to talk  or have any questions , message me!  It would be great to talk to some people who are going through the same type of things as I am.

Hi Brandi B.
I can tell you that me and my sister are 15 years apart. At first we didn't have much to do with each other because we were raised as ONLY CHILDREN, so she was out of the house by the time I was 3 so I never recalled her staying in our home, but as I got into my early teens and started driving I would come over to her house alot and spend time with her, I had to really get to know her. Now since I am in my 30's we are very close. We are there for each other, she always tells me our mother gave her the best gift and that gift is ME. (our mom is deceased),

I can only speak for myself but my sis and I became closer later in life. And we are very happy that we have the sisterly bond that was missing from earlier in our lives.

I have PCOS too and I am wanting to do the lapband because it's less invasive and I probably will be able to become pregnant easier, of course after a year and a half wait. Take Care ...

Topic: PCOSer and looking into a revision.
Hi everyone. I am a new member of OH. I am just looking to meet some people maybe that are in a similar situation as I am or could help me with the options that are available. Here's my story...

I had VBG in 2005 at the age of 19. My surgery weight was 252, I ended up getting down to 135 and maintained it for about a little more than a year. And was very proud of myself and may have gotten a little too ****y with how I looked and being young caught up in all the new social adventures I was experiencing. I had been overweight since I was 10yrs old. But in my mid teens I was diagnosed with PCOS. (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) which hindered me from losing weight on my own and keeping it off. And as the PCOS progressed the weight gain was unmangable. Which is why I had WLS. After getting down to my goal weight I kept it off for awhile and then I started to regain slowly and the invisible PCOS symptoms which completely went away started to creep back up along with the weight. Needless to say I started to slip back into depression and now feel like a complete failure. I never thought this could happen. But, it did. I'm not going to say I was the most compliant with all the restrictions but I followed them to the best of my ability at that time. I don't think I was prepared for the impact and results of what happened. I truly believe that I wasn't mature enough and now feel like I should of done more to prevent this. But meeting with my PCP he said patients with PCOS who do resort to WLS sometimes it does fail and not to blame myself. Maybe something went wrong to where I am in the position I am in now. He suggested looking into a revision surgery. Now at 22 almost 23 I feel that I am more prepared to handle myself and work this tool better than before. I am determined to lose this weight and keep it off. So that's why I am here. I have been researching and talking to some people and it seems the majority are recommending DS. Especially due to the PCOS. Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much for listening. :)

...holy hannah, it is so nice to see that I am not the only person dealing with these issues. All I can say is that I have to laugh as I sit and read your blog, (while I am waxing my darn face) sigh............
I do not want to take any drugs. Previously I had taken the spirolactin. I do not have any children and I am hoping to have them one day, god willing, and it better be quick cause I will be turning 40 this June. I remember with the spirolactin that you need to make sure that you are not trying to have children while on this, it would cause problems. That just turned me off of wanting to take it.
I feel also, my face is mashed up from all the waxing and picking or plucking.
That is what I will continue to do. Wax, I really dont know about the lazer. It is expensive and from what I read it does not necessarily work if it is a hormonal issue.
Have any of you with POCS had success with Lazer Hair removal?

God Bless all of us.
Vicki

I was in the same boat...could not take the pill due to depression issues.  So my GYN prescribed a progesterone pill called Aygestin.  I would take that for 10 days, then within 3 days I would get my period.  I would take that every 3 months.  My doc said you only need to really have it every 2-3 months to shed the lining of your uterus.  You might want to check with your doc about that med. I mentioned.  She also gave me the Nuvaring and I had depression with it.
But everyone is different.  The Aygestin worked well.
