Hey!
I am currently on the depo shot. As I do not want anymore kids, I double checked with my ob and she said since it is absorbed differently than the pill, my chances are greater at not getting pregnant. So if you're looking to not get pregnant, I would check more into the depo shot.

Topic: RE: Fertility /Metformin PCOS Questions.
I'm not IR I am only diag with a mild PCOS but I still take 1500 mg a day of Met.  I just started taking again as we are trying to get pg again.  Before that I was not taking it of course because I am not IR.  I have also tried the OPK's and not sure if they are working or not. lol lol  My first pg was after 10 years of fertility treatments and a total surprise! I had just turned 40 lol lol I am know fixing to turn 43 and we are trying for 1 more.  lol  I am going to have the progesterone test this month so the dr can see if I am ovulating but usually that day (the day they do the test) is a hit or miss.  Unless you know for sure that you are ovulating they are just guessing on the date to run the test.  And it HAS to be run a certain amnt of days after you ovulate.  I wish you the best!

Topic: RE: Metformin - What's your dosage?

I take 750mg twice a day.  I am currently trying to get pg and luckily my periods have been really normal considering I am almost 43 lol.  I also only had the side effects for like 2 weeks.  I would think you probably need some proveria to "make" you have a period and then hopefully you can get some kind of normal cycles back.  Best of luck and baby dust to you!

I had Anthem BCBS when I was approved for surgery.  They didn't immediately approve me - they wanted six months of documented effort to lose weight.  I was able to procure my Weigh****chers records and with that plus a heartstring pulling appeal letter got me approved.

I am waiting for ins. approval for RNY and my surgical team suggests that I go on bc now.  I don't even know where to start as I have never had regular cycles and was never able to get pregnant even with fertility meds.  So what's the best type of birth control pills for pcos?  OR should I try to go another route?  Not really too interested in an IUD.  What are my best options?  I am also not a spring chicken at 42 yo.

Topic: RE: best WLS for PCOS
just want to say thanks to everyone for sharing!!! it gave me the boost i need today!
my GYN will not label me PCOS yet i have had all the symptoms for about 4yrs now & i have uterine polyps. in feb of this year i had a D&C done to get rid of the polyps and help with the bleeding issues. 4months later i am apparently becoming a polyp farm again & i am sooooo not happy! i have heard that WLS does curb the symptoms & issues of PCOS and i really hope its true!!! i dont think i can go thro another D&C to only have the effects last for 4months. im tired of being a damn polyp farm!!! i am getting VSG done in about 4weeks cause i have heard it does remove alot of the hormonal issues....i really hope its all true!

I wouldn't overthink the fact that the two of you both have fertility issues. We all have trials in our lives so that we can learn from them. It could be that the two of you will learn alot through this experience and be a great help to others.

My husband and I both had fertility issues. When we got married we just took for granted that you get married and have kids- it's normal. We both come from large families. Then we discovered our issues. I have PCOS and he has damage from chemotherapy. Our daughter is now 3 and we appreciate her 10x more knowing how hard it was to have her. We also have adopted a special needs 3 year old. We speak to many people about how important kids are, how much they are to be appreciated, and how important good parenting is. Our experiences have really helped us to cousel others.

As for your nieces and nephews- we each raise our children to have bad habits that we can handle. This is natural. If they are doing something that is only mildly irritating we may overlook it, but correct them for something is we find incredibly obnoxious. This reinforces the mildly irritating behavior to some extent. Well, the mildly irritating behavior may really bother someone else, but that's why they are my kids. For example, my nieces and nephews are allowed to walk on the counter tops and their parents don't care. I want to scream and pitch a fit when they do that! It drives me crazy!  But then again, my kids are allowed to run barefoot in the back yard. This drives my brother crazy, it's all a matter of perspective.
