I think your waiting time is not very long because your getting the ring.. Gastric bypass is allot more popular... I don't know your case but, unless you may be considered a special case, for medical reasons?

Damn this province and all it's BS... 1 more strike against them. I am SERIOUSLY debating relocating to Ontario. If I was a resident of anywhere but here in Quebec, they would pay for me to have it anywhere. But because this is the lovely province Quebec, they do have enough doctors or money to do are surgery in a timely fashion, but they will dammed if they pay for us to go out of province

Hi Elena...thanks!

As for what I'm eating...not much...lol
I'll give you an example of my day...

breakfast: slice of toast with laughing cow reduced fat cheese and coffee (of course the coffee I drink wayyyyyyyyy after my toast) can't drink while you eat.

lunch: chicken with broccoli ( about 1/2 cup) chicken is dense so sometimes not easy going down. I noticed that it will go down easier at lunch rather than supper.

supper: so now I'm munching on more broccoli and have 1 cheese stick and will probably have a few crackers with maybe another laughing cow wedge, I know it was a "cheesy" kind of day...lol

So as you can tell I'm in no way getting all my proteins. So I've been searching for some specialty foods that are high in protein and good for wls patients. My nutritionist actually found a couple of companies and I actually just got back from buying some products.

One of the companies is called Ideal Protein and for those of you that had surgery at Sacre Coeur and used the Opti-Fast shakes when you bought them and picked them up you may have had a flyer inside and it was for Ideal Protein. So they sell these products.

I was actually very lucky that an esthetics salon a street away from me also sells them. The way they sell them is buy any 7 mix and match and the cost is $27.00.So for myself I was looking for more savory items.

Once I try them I'll let you know how they taste. The protein content is very good.

Bye for now,
Ada

Topic: Little Update

Hi everybody,

Like I had mentioned in another post I wanted to give a wee little update on my weight loss journey. My surgery was on January 10th so this is a 2 month update.

As of today my total weight loss is 53 pounds... So within this total 22 was pre-op (Opti-Fast stage) and 31 has been post-op.
I also measured myself and have lost a total of 36.5 inches

I measured everything...neck, arms, legs, bust,etc.

I've been feeling pretty good so far and hopefully as I lose weight my knees will get better and I can start to excercise.

Take care all...
Hugs,
Ada

The Bytown Benchers meet once a month on the first Tuesday evening of the month. We usually have a themed discussion, a clothing exchange and a chance to answer questions from newbies, etc.   Most of us either have had, or will have RNY, as that is what the province will pay for, but some have had other procedures, however they are more in the group for folks that are more post-op than most of us in the Benchers.(There is also a group that meets for those who are 18 months or more post-op, but I'm not sure when and where). When next few meetings are fleshed out, in terms of what we are doing, I'll post an invite on the QC forum for a meeting that would be a good one to meet and mingle.

Hi there!  That's a great idea, and I'm a Gatineau folk!  I live just north of Gatineau - would love a get together.   I think theres a few in the area as well.  How often does Ottawa group get together?  I'm pre-surgery...hopefully having my VSG surgery in 6  months or so.

Howdy!  Just sitting here on the Ottawa side of the river and wondering how many Gatineau folks are out there. Is there any sort of local group that gets together? Maybe the Ottawa folks and Gatineau folks can plan a get together if any of you guys are interested.

Enjoy the fantastic day we are having!!!

Hi there!  Just joined tonight and reading all the material the site has to offer.  I called a surgeon 6 months ago and my consultation was this past Wednesday.  I am seeing Dr. Pierre Leclerc at the Hotel Dieu hospital.  My surgery will be scheduled for sometime in September or October.

If you are an Ontario resident, the Ontario Health Care system will pay for you to have the surgery by Dr. Christof.  It is covered by OHIP and from what I heard Dr. Christof welcomes Ontario residents.
