My name is Liz - I am pre-op waiting for my surgery date, and I work part time at the local quilt store - a great hobby to stay away from food I say! My sewing room is the farthest away from the kutchen it can be! Wanna see my latest project? (One of about 12 projects I have going right now)... http://www.simplypixelating.com/cgi-bin/album.pl?album=quilting Liz F., West Quincy, MA.

That is a beautiful quilt top!! Are you going to hand or maching quilt it? I have about 12 projects going right now too...the only things I have gotten finished in the past year (except for some wall hangings) is rag quilts!! I have made 6 in the past year...everybody wanted one of their own once they saw the one I made my husband. Beautiful work! Stephanie r-n-y 02/24/04

I was just looking at it today and asking myself how in the heck was I going to quilt it - by machine for sure - but where and in what spaces I have no clue yet... just was working on a 4-patch baby quilt earlier that whips up in no time at all... Hey Liz Oh my gosh - now you are a QUILTER! That quilt is beautiful and the colors are amazing. I am just learning to sew and fell in love with quilting but it will be many long years before I could even think about doing inset seams. You must have blood in your veins from the Lowell quilters of many years ago. Both my mother and older sister have been professional seamstresses at various times in their lives. As the youngest I got the jobs of tying seams off (back in the days when machines didn't have reverse!) and picking up the threads off the floor. Eventually I was promoted to "cutter outer". The result was that I didn't care if I ever used a sewing machine. But then at age 52 I got the bug for quilting from my very encouraging country cousin. (Which proves you can teach an OLD dog new tricks) I have completed 7 quilts, mostly Thimbleberries and have probably 10 more in various stages (including one Jinny Beyer which I will probably never finish). I have had a flannel one on my bed for over a year that still needs to have the binding put on. (When I had my WLS I told my kids that if I died I wanted to be buried with it over me unfinished! Do not let my sister fini****!) I also I have a room full of stash and and lots of expectations! But I can't ever imagine ever getting to your level. For that I will just have to go to shows! And as I am in Western MA I will look for your name on entry winners! Thanks for sharing and best wishes for your healthy future with WLS. Joanne 301/270 and on plateau/150

THANK YOU for such kind words! I have to confess though - inset seams - no way - not for me - that quilt top is all paper pieced - I forgot to add that detail in - dopey me! But still it was quite an accomplishment for me being that I have only been quilting for 2 years... now it looks like I will be teaching a class for that quilt as well - yikes! If you ever get out this way you must stop by the store - it is Quilter's Compass in Quincy - less than 15 minutes from Boston - I can make it in 7 minutes myself - hehehe I think I have about 15 projects I am working on right now, with ideas for about 50 more in my crowded little head! Hi Liz I was born and raised in Boston (Roslindale). I spent time with an aunt who lives off Furnace Brook Pkwy when I was growing up. I live in Northern California now, SF Bay area. I love to quilt and have been quilting since 1973. Your quilts are beautiful. Keep on quilting!!! My motto is "She who dies with the most fabric wins!!!!" Dianne

What a small world! Furnace Brook Parkway is the next street over from us! I am going crazy not being able to quilt, but I cannot do any pushing/pulling, et****il the doc clears me for it. And I only have like 30 projects in the works - what quilter doesn't? Liz F. West Quincy, MA. Post-Op since 08/10/2004 4th day without pain meds!!!!!
