hi, starting my first ever....

hi, I was talking to a friend recently and she told me about a quilt her grandmother made using old shirts of the hubby's to make a memory quilt. I thought what a great idea. So...Ive decided to make my first ever quilt, doing a patchwork one with the yarn at ever corner thing using...get this...some of my old cloths that I wore too much cause that is all that fit, you know ladies what I mean. Now that they are so huge on me (yeaaaa) Ive started cutting out the squares and hope to start sewing this weekend. (surgery was 11/26/03 and Im down 75lbs as of 3 days ago)

I made a memory quilt with some of my mother's shirts and blouses after she passed on. Doesn't replace my mother, but it is something I can cuddle into when I'm feeling down and miss her so. She's been gone three years now, and for some reason I found this Mother's Day to be particularly hard. Cathy.

Cathy, nothing replaces a lost love one, sorry to hear about your mom. I did finish the quilt and its lovely, the link in my profile has pics of it. I really love wrapping it around (and around) me and snuggling down. Those shirts I had started to hate now I love in this new form.
