6 hour quilt
I'm going to do a six hour quilt, designed by Kaye Wood, this weekend. Although it is called a 6 hour quilt, and no doubt can be done in 6 hours by the pros, my friend and I plan on using up the whole weekend. I'm slow when I quilt. My friend sews much faster, but she's new to piecing and gets frustrated. Between the two of us, we're, ... well ... slow. LOL!
I also have another Amish Sunlight and Shadows to start. Think I might start that one tomorrow. I'm still recovering from a nasty infection and still on IV antibiotics, so can't go back to work yet. I tire too easily. But sitting and quilting I can do. Whenever I get too tired I can stop and crawl into bed with the kitties.
By the way ... does anybody else here have a cat who insists on "HELPING" when you quilt? Grrrr.
Ta ta for now and happy quilting, ya'll!
Cathy.

Jeez, these emoticons are fun.
It looks disgustingly easy. I got it from the Kaye Wood website for $4. Its copyrighted, or I'd offer to send you a copy. It is actually a baby crib sized quilt. If one makes it bigger, it will take it longer, of course.
Have you made a quilt yet? Or what have you made? I find quilting so relaxing.
Cathy.

How did you make out with your "6" hour quilt. My first quilt was a Quilt in a Day Log Cabin by Eleanor Burns. We pieced the tops in an 8 hour class but we were really sewing. At the time I worked as a security guard and I pinned and started quilting that same night. That was 15 years ago, I know I would not have the energy now.
I am working on a Garden Gate wallhanging now. Solid background with wonderunder black wrought iron fence you are looking through.
Good Luck
Pat
I hope you had fun making it. I met Kaye Wood at the Quilt show in Chicago. Not anything like you see on tv. I had done her tumbling star quilt in a class. It's made with the star-maker 6. I still need to back it, applique it. I want it for a bedspread rather than a wall hanging.
My cats sometimes decide that it's time to snuggle when I am on the machine. But they MUST test all of my quilt tops for comfort/satisfaction.
I don't have a cat now due to my severe allergies, but I used to have one years ago when I would sew my clothes. I would have the cardboard cutting board on the floor with my fabric laid out with the pattern paper pinned to it. My cat just loved the sound the paper made when he would run and leap onto it....sigh.
He loved to destroy, I mean "help," with all my crafts projects.
